I guess someone has to tell the story of the family's denial.

What???? So now hate books about Paterno? No thanks. I'm not a book burner, I don't care what people think about the subject matter.

This review of the biography, believe it or not, has some funny turns of phrase, and does humanize Paterno a bit.

How does this guy even sleep at night and how is it a guy this stupid get into the position of president at a major university...

His responses to these questions and emails quotes are iritating and shows how he just let it fly. To wash your hands that you "Don't get involved in Polic matters" is a farce...

That's ridiculous, I can't believe he thinks people are that stupid. He thought it was just "horseplay"? I'm sure he dealt with towel snapping and water splashing incidents almost every day when he was president. No reason to question why this sort of behavior needed his attention.

              http://www.altoonamirror.com/page/co...tradition.html

The non-band-related music will feature mostly what has been part of the mix inside the stadium the past few years. And while the Boston Red Sox, Pitt football and others have elevated "Sweet Caroline" to a staple for their games, that popular PSU tradition may be interrupted or discontinued.

Some concerns by university officials about its lyrics - "touching you touching me" - and the perception of people singing along to them in light of the recent scandal have been expressed.

A final decision will be made this week.

Probably more disturbing is that Graham Spanier has a Phd in Sociology. Maybe his research only included ivory tower topics rather than horseplay in the locker room. But there's a reason why coaches have seperate shower facilities from players. The "Horseplay" defense holds no water. An adult and juvenile being in the same shower at the same time is a great cause for concern.

                • PSU still can't get anything right. After trying to meet to ratify the signing of the consent decree, PSU's board discovered you need 10 days notice for official board actions- which they didn't have. 2 weeks later, still no board meeting ratifying the decision.

Now they are in the somewhat more awkward position of having effectively announced they feel ratification is needed and yet having not done it.

                        • Ugh:
HARRISBURG, Pa. -- Penn State's costs for legal fees, consultants and public relations firms hired to help deal with the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse scandal have reached nearly $17 million.

The university said it has spent almost $16.8 million through June 30.

Nearly $10 million of that went to seven firms for what Penn State calls internal investigation and crisis communications. Nearly $4 million went for university legal services and defense.

The university is also facing lawsuits from Sandusky's accusers while the NCAA leveled a $60 million fine against the school in July.

The school says the costs for the legal defense and public relations are not paid by student tuition, taxpayer funds or donations. It says the costs will be covered by insurance policies or interest payments on loans it makes.

                          • Ugh,

In the email to Poly Prep, Bucceroni said he was “a child prostitute” and was associated with a pedophile ring that included Sandusky, Foglietta, now-deceased Philadelphia businessman Ed Savitz and former Wharton School of Business professor Lawrence Scott Ward, who is serving a lengthy prison sentence for trafficking in child porn and smuggling photos and videos of himself having sex with a teenage Brazilian boy.

“(Between) 1977-1980 I was a child prostitute associated with a tri-state (NYC-NJ-PA) pedophile ring. (During the) summer of 1979 I was brought to the State College area by Ed Savitz for the purpose of child prostitution with Jerry Sandusky at a Second Mile fundraiser,” Bucceroni wrote in the email. “Due to time constraints, Sandusky became unavailable and I was introduced to Phil Foglietta by Ed Savitz & Jerry Sandusky. Foglietta was introduced to us as Coach Phil who coached youth football in NYC. Foglietta agreed to pay $200.00 for child sex and followed us back to a Philadelphia hotel, myself (sic)ad another child prostitute then engaged coach Phil in child sex.”
