No announcement yet.
Now that BYU's ascendency to the Big-12 is obvious...

Yeah, the game's special in November. But not so much in September. And if we're in the Big 12, I wouldn't mind us seeing starting to game our schedule to maximize home games.Originally posted by atheistcougar View PostI'd be happy dropping UofU and replacing them with a Big 12 slate. They can play us in Nov like always, or not at all.

USU is actually a great game from an AD's perspective. We can schedule them 2:1 or higher, yet there is a far greater fan interest than in other series like that, such as Idaho State or something.Originally posted by UtahJazzFan88 View PostWhy not have the USU game be one every other year, or an FCS Utah school? I don't see the big importance of keeping USU other than an easy win.

As much as I hate to say it, but when they are in a big conference, they are going to want to schedule a cupcake FCS team just like every big conference does to get an extra win/home game, and I think they need to cut out Utah State unless they don't want Utah. I'd rather keep the RIVALRY. Utah State is a nice deal, but Hawaii gives us more incentive for an extra home game. I wouldn't mind BYU playing Weber State or SUU at home, gives those teams some extra recognition.Originally posted by jay santos View PostUSU is actually a great game from an AD's perspective. Have not been on for a while...why do you even say we are "in" for 2012? What statement has been made that assures this? Link? What has been said?"Newton's First Law of Motion: ...things at rest tend to stay at rest. Things in motion, tend to stay in motion...."
Hmm... Good motivation for me to remain active I guess.

I'm probably in the minority on this, but I enjoy the Utah State game every year. I also wish it would remain a home-and-home series.Originally posted by UtahJazzFan88 View PostWhy not have the USU game be one every other year, or an FCS Utah school? So we're optimistic here because of Holmoe and then Dick Harmon's article? Or are there other signs I'm missing.
TCU was invited Oct 6, only a few days after the Big XII said they were going to spend a week and a half looking at inviting new schools. Hmm Oct 6 is a Thursday...so if BYU gets invited, I'm guessing for the 27th. But who knows...

For those who aren't up to date, the only thing that has changed today is that Mizzou has announced they are still exploring options.
During the presser, however, it became abundantly clear that they are gone. The biggest piece of info was that if they do happen to leave it will be for next year.

I was on a flight the day the TCU news broke. I will be on a flight next week to the same exact place. I am sure that is when the announcement will happen.Originally posted by Jennerstein View PostSo we're optimistic here because of Holmoe and then Dick Harmon's article? I still haven't followed why one of the BigEast teams couldn't be invited instead. I know that there's the exit fees, and supposedly they wouldn't be available until 2014. However, since the BigEast is currently in a state of flux, the Big12 could just blow up the Big East by inviting Louisville, Cinci, and WV and be done with it. Right? Maybe I'm just being needlessly pessimistic because of the TCU announcement came as a surprise.Originally posted by LiveCoug View PostFor those who aren't up to date, the only thing that has changed today is that Mizzou has announced they are still exploring options.

It seems like everyone's mood has changed mostly because Holmoe spoke out on Saturday and Harmon's article.
