Any update on Apo? We really need him back."Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

Heaps just needs to settle down and play catch. He gets happy feet sometimes and he wings it instead of stepping into his throw and just placing the ball. Also, he and his receivers need work. Guys are still lining up wrong. On that last 3rd down pass, Falslev lined up wrong and Heaps had to move him to the other side. Even on Jeaps INT, while a bad throw, we have two WRs practically holding hands 20 yards down field. Doman needs to iron these things out. And Cahoon needs to make sure these guys understand the plays and make the right reads.Originally posted by MarkGrace View PostThere were more drops, but there was a lot of talk in the first half of last year about how poor his accuracy was as well. It was the most disappointing aspect of his performance through the first half."Nobody listens to Turtle."-Turtlesigpic

The ball is getting spread around to everyone but the TEs. I don't know what is going on there. But I think for the most part that we have neutralized our own TEs.Originally posted by Color Me Badd Fan View PostWhat's this about Heaps never throwing a TD pass to a tight end? Is that true? So I started watching with about 8 minutes left and all I have to say is that KVN is a stud and Heaps is a dud.Dio perdona tante cose per un’opera di misericordia

Knock it off. This board has enough problems without a dose of middle-age lechery.

TEs had like 5 catches in the first half. But nothing big because Heaps always airmails it when they are open down the seam.Originally posted by Surfah View PostThe ball is getting spread around to everyone but the TEs. Right. But they moved the ball pretty well on us. Their total yards killed us. They had a couple big plays. Our longest was the Foote run I think. They also beat us up in TOP despite all the running we did in the second half.Originally posted by Jacob View PostOTOH, one of their 2 TDs was off of an INT and very short field. they didn't do much."Nobody listens to Turtle."-Turtlesigpic

I think the WRs have looked better this year, even though they're clearly not great.
Heaps is obviously struggling, but I'll insist that Doman needs to bear a lot of that burden. He's not calling any screens, the RBs are barely involved in the passing game, and the quick throws that are probably supposed to serve to get Heaps into a rhythm are those short outs to the WRs that travel 30+ yards in the air.
If you watch the QBs with 65+% completion rates, you'll notice that none of them are throwing downfield every time. Heaps' accuracy is way off, no denying it, but Doman needs to throw him a bone.

I agree with most of what you are saying. I think the biggest problems are timing and precision. Another issue that I see is that we are throwing an out way to much. The BYU teams of the 80's and 90's were precise and had great timing. Watch the BYU vs. Penn State Holiday Bowl they hit the curl like 40 times in that game. Also, Heaps looked like he wanted to throw up or cry most of the game which usually doesn't result in a great game.Originally posted by Surfah View PostHeaps just needs to settle down and play catch.
