The trouble with TRAX as it involves the U is that there are still not enough trains that go to the campus to accommodate the crowd. It's getting better, but there are still about 4 or 5 trains that go downtown for every on train that goes to the U and most of those trains going downtown are empty as everyone gets off at the Galavan Center to make the switch. UTA needs to do a better job at directing the trains to where most of the riders are going.

And speaking of the Galavan Center, that would be a better place for these festivities than the Gateway. It's a more central location and folks who don't really want to be a part of it wouldn't have to deal with the crowd, as they would at the Gateway.

As for the BYU presser, I would be concerned about it ruining the fun if I thought it was going to happen.
i think having it in town is a better idea since after the festivities are over, there is more stuff to do, restaurants, clubs, etc. apparently a lot of the local businesses are decorating their windows, etc. in ute stuff, so that adds to the town being kind of ute-centric. i think it would be a blast and plan on taking advantage of it when i come for colorado. ipu, i hope you will post a report.

as for the game, i share Jarid's gut feeling. it just seems like we are getting ready to keep rolling from the last game. Washington's defense is struggling, so i expect Chow to ram it down their throats on the run and mix in some play action initially and then start stretching the field a bit more. i have a feeling that we will see more deep balls by Wynn this game, after an extra week of rest. again, gut feeling, so i could be totally wrong.

utah's defense should set a goal to hold Washington to under 100 yards rushing. if we do that, we win. our safeties may give up a few plays, but i believe that we will stop any huge game changing TD passes if we are putting pressure on the QB and our man to man coverage is decent.

i am heading up to Oregon in 2 weeks to hopefully see the remains of the ASU team that just got destroyed by the utes.

The last few days, I have had an overwhelming thought that we are going to curb stomp these puppies. Somewhere in the 38-17, 42-21 range. Just a hunch.

He only made it through his first year of law school at the U. Maybe we can arrange an honorary degree. I know one of the guys who fellowshipped Ted prior to his baptism. Oddly, the church doesn't claim Ted either. I say we let the State of Washington take all the credit for him.

The new "Red" activities sound fun. I wish I could be there.

Ideally you want these things on your campus. I wonder why they went with gateway? Campus has trax too.

Hopefully BYUs 6:15 press conference (mid game) won't ruin the festivities!

Also, as expected, loads of tickets now for UW game tomorrow, face value or less.

I think we had a lot of people looking to make a buck this season off the improved home schedule but not factoring in sticker shock. Secondary market should be hopping today and tomorrow.

Is the AZ state game at RES? If not, the unfortunately the Utes missed all the good teams at home this year. Next season will be a really good one at home but I am doubtful of the viability of big ticket scalping in Utah. Same for BYU if it joins the B12. If Texas or USC come once every 20 years, you will see lots of action on tickets. If they come every other year, not so much. Even NBA tix are reasonably priced here. I guess for the fan this is a good thing.

I noticed banners at the Gateway yesterday advertising something called "UNight" or "UNite" which is a Friday night (tonight) pep rally for tomorrow's game. The band will be there, that ratty old bird, the cheerleaders, etc. I don't know if the team will be there to address the crowd, but hopefully they will.

Is this a new thing? I don't remember Utah doing this in prior seasons but nothing wrong with starting now.

At any rate, it is a great idea. I guess this is what happens when the school isn't busy putting in a fireside on Friday night.

I'm starting to get the feeling that Washington is really banged up and that they have depth issues. I know that price has some knee issues but I keep reading about others with injuries. That may be contributing to the line.

I wish I was there. This game and the lead-up to it are going to be a lot of fun. I love that the city is getting involved in creating the pre-game tradition we need. With tailgating, the Ute Walk, and the scenery at Rice Eccles, it is becoming one helluva game day experience.
