Think Mike Stoops survives this year?

I'm trying to figure out how he got to this year. When 8 wins in a year is good enough for your program you're a pretty crappy team.

So the Utes join the conference in a year when SC cannot play for the conference championship, they don't have to play Oregon or the Farm, and the Zoo is quite possibly worse than some of the better HS teams in the country.

No doubt. Curious how they'll spin it when they end up coming in third or fourth in the conference!

Having grown up in Tucson and remember the days of Bruschi and Desert Storm... It disappoints me they have fallen so low.. Stoops was a horrible pick for a coach imo.. I was surprised he made it past last year and can't see him making it past this year if this continues.. If he beats ASU then some will forgive him..

Arizona is a basketball school, much like Kentucky, if the football team is competitive that is a bonus. The Shouting Stoops has been to 3 straight bowls which hasn't happened in a couple decades, 5-7 wins and he will keep his job.

8 wins in a BCS league should be a good season unless you are one of the true blue bloods. There are really only about 10 of those. This is what the BCS has changed, anything short of undefeated or 1 loss is a bad year. 8-9 wins is a great year for most schools.

Surf, was Detmer's senior year not a good year? I believe BYU finished in the top 15 that year.

I think he's trying to suggest that Arizona got overly excited about back-to-back 8-5 seasons in 2008 and 2009. But especially for a school like Arizona, there's absolutely nothing wrong with an 8-win season.

Can that judgment be made when we are only 2 games into the season?

EDIT: I posted these Sagarin data earlier, and drew some criticism from Pelagius for characterizing it too loosely. I do think the data suggest that the PAC strong was a very strong football conference in 2010. The data were similar for 2009, although the PAC-10 didn't come out on top that year. Caveat: I know these are just Sagarin's data and there may well be competing data. But he's a pretty respected guy, AFAIK.

See my edit to my last post. You're talking about whether this is the worst PAC-12 performance in decades. Most of the teams haven't even played two games yet. Your question seems premature, that's all.

You ignored Oklahoma's performances in OOC/bowl games when comparing the Big 12 and P12. We can gloss over Oregon just as well.
