I'm not saying active LDS folks should all be BYU fans. I'm saying I can't reconcile being LDS and hating BYU (I mean, Jesus said love EVERYONE. Right?) Of course, this also goes for BYU fans - I don't get the Utah hate.
In the context of sports, hating BYU football and basketball makes sense. Out of the context of sports, hating BYU doesn't make sense.

In the context of sports it is diversion and entertainment. Out of the context of sports it is taking things way too seriously.

So - you can take it as - that dirty SOB thinks his team was better than my team even though his team lost. He's doing this just to piss me off because he's an arrogant SOB who thinks I cheer for Satan.

Or - you can take it as - that coach who is trying to motivate and give confidence to his own players thinks that the game was really close and that his team lost in spite of outplaying my team for 3 quarters, which leads him to think that maybe his team is better than the outcome indicated.

On the one hand - you hate the man. On the other hand, you think to yourself "yep. There's been times that I thought my team lost to a team they were better than too. It kind of sucks. I'm glad my team blocked that kick and won."

I know it is difficult - put you are perpetuating the things that you hate about the rivalry. You hate the hate - but choose to interpret things in such a way to give you a reason to keep hating and to be less than civil in return.

probably more important than any of these stats, were the turnovers. White's fumble vs. USC essentially cost the Utes the game and USC's turnovers kept Utah in the game. If Utah doesn't fumble there, I think Utah beats USC.

I can't comment on BYU vs. Texas turnovers because I haven't watched that game.
