SEC taunting the rest of the country

Anybody know why the SEC guide is sporting a Thunder jersey?

SEC's Commissioner Mike Slive championed some interesting ideas today when he kicked off the SEC media days event. In short he supports:

- supports full cost of scholarship for student athletes to cover more than just tuition, housing, books, etc that scholarships presently cover. I guess more in line with academic scholarships.

- Get rid of the renewable one-year scholarships for binding multi-year scholarships. This will definitely draw ire from the coaches in the SEC. They are the masters of working the system with those type of shenanigans.

-Raise academic requirements for incoming freshman and JUCO transfers from a 2.0 GPA to a 2.5 GPA in core high school courses. But, would like to see the return of partial qualifiers. A student who doesn't meet the requirements could still enroll in classes and participate in practices but could not play in a game until their academics are in order.

-Wants to modernize recruiting rules to include modern electronic communications between recruits and coaches and to simplify the recruiting calendar. Also wants to get rid of the "bump rule"

-wants the NCAA rulebook streamlined to improve enforcement of its bylaws.

I think most of these are pretty good ideas. But with the exception of a few of these points, I can't imagine the SEC coaches being on board.

Did they mention that 11 of the 12 teams in the SEC have been cited for major violations over the past 20 years? Or that they have committed more total violations than the rest of college football combined?
