Goat, you are a lyrical gangsta..maybe a witch too.

PS Who here hasn't spent a little time in the bathroom, speaking rudely, with PAC?

Then I called a brother in law who lost faith and bailed at the end of the 3rd qtr, I was honestly panting as I was trying to explain what transpired. If I had to vote on the greatest/favorite individual plays in BYU football history it would be #2. Only to be outdone by the McMahon-Brown bomb in the Holiday Bowl.

Beck to Harline put to bed all that pain from the Crowton era. John Beck had a rough career at BYU. The timing sucked and he had a lot of issues. But in the end the kid will always be pure gold. Knowing how much it meant to him as a life-long BYU fan whose nipples get hard at the golden oldies highlights made his moment in the sun all the more sweeter for me.
This is pretty much how I feel about it. I was too young to remember the Miracle Bowl. I remember watching the Steve Young Flea Flicker, and Kurt Gouveia's heroics, but was a little young to really appreciate it. The Sark to KO touchdown vs aTm in '96 and then Omar Morgan's seal the deal pick against K State were all emotional highs that contributed to my testimony of the one and only, but Beck to Harline has been the apex of transcendent experiences with BYU football.

A truly great moment. My future wife and I saw each other for the first time just minutes thereafter, as a matter of fact.

Put this down in words a while back. How I experienced that moment.

            --------------------------

Beck to Harline and Me: The View from London

On that fateful day in 2006 I was at a close Jewish friend's wedding in London. I could hardly believe that such an non-discretionary event landed on the day of BYU-Utah in the year of our liberation from Utah's unholy streak.

But I bit my tongue and went along to the Synagogue where I was delighted to discover that my handheld device was getting excellent reception and for the small cost of dirty looks from the girl I was dating I was able to keep track of the score.

14-0 BYU at the end of the 1st quarter. All was well.

But then - disaster: My battery started to go, overtasked by my frequent refresh command. The girl smiled when she saw my distress and I knew we didn't have a future. My battery died right after Utah went up 24-14, about the time the wedding was ending and heading back to the hotel party venue and I was in agony.

We arrived back at the hotel but I couldn't get my bag and my charger because it was at a different hotel where I was staying. Wracked, I went up to the party where there were endless toasts. I tried to drown my worry in my non-alcoholic grape beverage but really wished I could just drink the real stuff.

Finally I went downstairs to the lobby and approached the receptionist..... first I tried a simple request - "would it be too much to ask you to go to ESPN.com and check the score of an American football match?" - "No, sir, we're not supposed to use our computers for that." - "I see - what if I got on my knees and begged?" She - glancing about and looking at me with a half smile - "OK - you're going to get me in trouble."

For the next 20 minutes I had some English girl who knew nothing about football reading me shorthand ESPN Game tracker (or some equivalent) descriptions of what was happening. Coats TD, Utah's answer, the 4th down completion to Jacobsen, everything.....

And she hit refresh with 3 seconds left and BYU with one shot. I hovered over the counter. She watched me with half-amazement now as she could see I was almost trembling (it's true). "Refresh again - just keep hitting refresh until it says something new!!!!"

When she read the words haltingly "Touchdown BYU - Beck to Harline" (she mispronounced the "line" in Harline) I literally lost it. I let out an involuntary, barbaric yarp of jubilation and went to my knees in the hotel lobby like I'd just scored a World Cup game winner. I actually cried. I'm that lame and that lost in BYU football.

But the best moment was when I noticed that there were a few people looking on including my buddy who had just been married - who was walking an elderly relative to the door from the party upstairs. He was standing with his hands folded watching me in amusement and something that looked like understanding.

I looked back at him a bit bashful. "Say nothing," he said, "I am an Italian football fan."

(He is Italian as well as Jewish).
