Out of curiosity, which event would you be more interested in hearing about and maybe actually go see.

Lavelle and Mac each getting four players from either the crimson club or the cougar club and going at it or.........

Bronco and Kyle getting 4 players from each of their current teams and going at it.

I like good competition, so I would pick the first one. Unfortunately in the second case the odds of a football player being good at golf, let alone 4 of them is pretty remote.

Therefor having players is still competition, but on the level of HS girls golf.

I'm not sure I would care to hear about one event more than the other. Why do I care if they have cougar club players versus crimson club players or current football players versus each other?

I think that whoever you get, it has to be competitive. I'm not interested in hearing how one loaded team killed another team that picked team members differently. So just be consistent in who is competing against who.

But to be totally and completely honest - I'm not sure that they are trying to draw people in based on the quality of golf being played. Sure, there are winners and losers - so how good someone is plays a part in the competition. But it isn't like they are saying "come see great golfers".

How many people here have been to see a PGA event in person with the best golfers in the world? I haven't. So why would I go to see some cougar club or crimson club member? Who are they? Why do I care to see them?

In some ways I can at least see the players as being a sort of celebrity who people would want to go and interact with. In my mind, the idea ought to be for the coaches to have people there that other people want to talk to, so that they'll sign up and participate.

I guess for me the bottom line is if I want to see competitive golf, I'm not going to an event to see cougar club or crimson club members.

And if I go to an event, it won't be to see cougar club or crimson club members. I'd be more likely to go in order to interact with players.

If you want to argue that the coaches should be playing with guys like Mike Weir or one of the Summerhays - then you've got something. Then you've got both good golf and some celebrity.

Or if you want to argue that they should have players like Steve Young, Ty Detmer, or Scott Mitchell - then you've got something. You still have the celebrity, though I don't know how good of golfers they are. (Apparently Scott Mitchell is good enough to not screw up the chances of his team winning.)

Donut hit the nail on the head. This is the first year Kyle has not had pro golfers on his team. So he finds former Ute players who are all close to scratch players.

Bronco looks at it as an actual charity event and figures more people want to meet current BYU players than washed up has beens and no name Utah golf pros. So he brings current players thinking he will raise more money for charity.

Kyle doesn't give a shit his ego is as big as his pants size and all he cares about is winning.
