Helicopters, right? I'm trying to keep up with you here.Originally posted by Goatnapper'96 View PostThus began the transformation of the 101st from a PID to an Air Assault division that relies upon rotary winged aircraft for rapid relocation on the battlefield. If we disagree on something, it's because you're wrong.

Yes, helicopters - the 101st has more helios than any other division on earth - 6 bns of them - at least when I was there, if I ever ride in another one it will be too soonOriginally posted by SoCalCoug View PostHelicopters, right? I'm trying to keep up with you here.
If God had meant heliocopters to fly he would have put wings on them

Unlike 'Napper I've never jumped out of perfectly good airplanes, but I did repel out of Heliocopters at night.Last edited by happyone; 04-13-2011, 06:20 AM.

Airborne School should be mandatory for every solider, heaven knows it could be done in 5 days if they cut the jumps down to 3 - one day jump with light equipment, one day jump with full equipment and one night jump with full equipment. Air Assault school should only be for those who are in AA units, but it was much, much more difficult than Airborne school. Slingloader ops was relatively difficult to master and the 12 mile force march in 3 hours on the last day is not something the majority of soldiers could do. I am much prouder of my AA badge.Originally posted by happyone View PostYes, helicopters - the 101st has more helios than any other division on earth - 6 bns of them - at least when I was there, if I ever ride in another one it will be too soon

I'm choosing to mostly ignore your fatuity here and instead overwhelm you with so much data that you'll maybe, just maybe, realize that you have reams to read on this subject before you can contribute meaningfully to any conversation on this topic.

You forgot one. He emasculates Utenation and is the focal point of many of their waking thoughts, even when the party line is supposed to be complete indifference.Originally posted by LA Ute View PostI guess that since I have stunk the thread up so much with derision of what Bronco says and does, I should say something about what I like about the guy:
1. He wins. I can see why BYU fans love him.
2. He's resilient. I was quite impressed (and said so at the time) at how he weathered adversity last season and turned what looked like a disastrous season into a winning one.
3. He's sincere. Yes, now and then I chuckle or roll my eyes at his statements, but I think he believes what he says and believes in BYU football. I think he'll be there for the rest of his career (if he keeps winning) and will become a beloved, legendary figure in Cougardom.
4. If I were not a diehard Ute fan and had a son who was good enough to play D1 football, I'd love for him to play for Bronco. (I'd love for him to play for Kyle W. too, but that's not the point of this post.
Yeah, go ahead, accuse me of kissing up to the BYU fans here (all 80% of you) but that's how I really feel.
I hope SU doesn't become ill reading this.

I hate to disappoint you, but the only time he comes to my attention is when he says something, well, memorable. That was brutal - esp for someone who is not a ranger rick.Originally posted by Goatnapper'96 View PostAirborne School should be mandatory for every solider, heaven knows it could be done in 5 days if they cut the jumps down to 3 - one day jump with light equipment, one day jump with full equipment and one night jump with full equipment. As a side note AA school is the last time I shaved my mustache off - I did 80 pushups for it the first morning of AA school and at lunch went home and shaved!

When I went to AA school flutter kicks was the exercise du jour. By the end of the two week school you could have used my abs for a washboard!Originally posted by happyone View PostThat was brutal - esp for someone who is not a ranger rick.

Shut your ass, wally. You just interrupted a conversation between TWO ARMY VETS! They also happen to be BYU fans and indifferent as to the Band of Brothers mentality being promoted by Head Coach Bronco Mendenhall. Have a little respect for those men who have served in uniform.Originally posted by wally View PostI see womenfolk in the yoga class doing that whilst I push heavy iron around.

They were doing 4 count pushups - the stache was slightly out of regs - according to them. Every time a black hat saw me he had me drop and give him "10". At least I had my hair cut correct - tapered not blocked.Originally posted by Goatnapper'96 View PostWhen I went to AA school flutter kicks was the exercise du jour. My office was across the street from the AA school and I'd see the people come in from forced march just dragging. In some ways I'm surprised they didn't have more heat injuries esp in July and Aug.Last edited by happyone; 04-13-2011, 07:46 AM.
