Oregon's sudden rise has always seemed to have a creepy side. Kind of like when McGwire went from being second fiddle to Conseco to hitting that ungodly number of home runs each year. It can't be just beacuse Knight got them a nice weight room.

$25k for names, ages and contact info. I need to start a recruiting service. Just give me an hour and Google. Also, I like that Lyles can't produce an invoice for his services.Originally posted by OrangeUte View PostRead the article again and I agree. I imagine these recruiting bundle services are legal. $25K, though, seems like a lot of money. Suspicious.

I wonder if it had more analysis than that, though, like video services, analysis of stats and performance.Originally posted by Surfah View Post$25k for names, ages and contact info. This was a pretty good article by Doyel about this:
http://gregg-doyel.blogs.cbssports.c...81996/27748847The recent recruiting controversy at Oregon tells me two things: The Ducks didn't break a rule. But they did cheat."Nobody listens to Turtle."-Turtlesigpic

NCAA officials descend on Eugene today to launch investigation

Looks like the guy who was paid the $25K for scouting services also coincidentally happens to have a "personal mentoring relationship" with Seastrunk.
Interesting timing of the payment.ESPN.com reported Thursday:
Oregon athletics department spokesman Dave Williford confirmed to ESPN.com on Thursday that Oregon paid Lyles $25,000 for his recruiting services. Oregon’s payment to Lyles was made shortly after Seastrunk signed a national letter of intent in February 2010 to play football for the Ducks, choosing them over California, LSU and USC.Fitter. James, a rising junior from Texarkana, Texas, helped lead the Ducks to a 12-1 record last season, including a 22-19 loss to Auburn in the Tostitos BCS National Championship Game.
In December, Lyles was James' guest at the ESPNU Home Depot College Football Awards Show in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. Lyles described himself as James' trainer and advisor.Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/201...#ixzz1FeUJAAOeLyles did not return calls from SI.com. His Web site features a "JUCO price list" that offers videos for a particular state for $3,000. A multi-state region costs $5,000. A "trifecta package" that includes any three states costs $8,000, while a "national package" costs $15,000. No single service is priced at $25,000.Fitter. Happier. Sports By Brooks keeps updating his FB wall with lots of connect the dot tidbits. Seems like Oregon, Oklahoma State, and Auburn are Lyle's favorite clients.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View Post"Nobody listens to Turtle."-Turtlesigpic
