    That's been my opinion.

I hope this rumor isn't true. We don't want Utah's failures.

I don't understand this. Why would Roderick be considered a better hire than Cahoon?

Knock it off. This board has enough problems without a dose of middle-age lechery.

Maybe because he has coached before.

BUt has he shown that he's worth hiring away from another school? I mean, I have to agree w/ PU and say that his receivers at Utah haven't exactly been awesome. It seems like there's little difference between Higgins and Roderick. Why replace a coach with someone that hasn't proven to be any better. With Cahoon, who's known for his precision and discipline, one who has gotten the most out of what talent he has, at least there's the possibility that some of that might stick with our WR. Dunno, this just seems strange to me.

Cahoon is a huge gamble. I love the guy, but he has zero coaching experience. At least Roderick has experience, can recruit, and did enough to warrant Sark making him an offer. Roderick also was an OC prior to going to Utah. Personally, given he choice of the two I'd take Roderick. And give him some credit, he coached guys like David Reed and Freddie Johnson.

could be. All I want is someone who is going to teach our WR to run great routes, get separation and hold onto the damn ball. If Roderick can do that, then so be it.

And I haven't necessarily seen that from Roderick at Utah. He has had a few good receivers, which in my mind, leads me to believe that they were successful based on talent more than coaching.

FTR, I am not crazy about the hire. But I am not upset by it. We could do worse.

Scalley and Roderick are the best 2 recruiters on Utah's staff.

It would be the coup of the decade if we could get Scalley on the BYU sideline.

That is as likely as Utah hiring away Brandon Doman, it isn't going to happen.

I agree 100%. He wouldn't want to coach at BYU and there is no possible way BYU would take him if he did.
