Clawson was a second round pick. I doubt they take a QB now. There are lots of holes to fill on that team.Originally posted by DrumNFeather View PostCarolina just lost any value that pick had. They're now the Wizards staring at drafting Kwame Brown.
Sure, there are other QBs, but those QBs aren't Luck...will they be bad enough to get him next year? Do they gamble on the Missouri kid or Newton or Mallett that high up? Can't trade down, so they probably now take the best defensive player on the board.Dyslexics are teople poo...

Exactly. It wasn't like QB was their only need just a big need where the top prospect was also a QB. Since he isn't declaring they can address their DLine and still be fine.Originally posted by Flystripper View PostClawson was a second round pick. I doubt they take a QB now. I have some inside knowledge on this one...if some of you think about it you will put two and two together....
1. Collective Barganing agreement. His dad is a former NFL QB, and if there is a hold out, rookies wont be allowed to have playbooks until 2 weeks before camp. They don't let 60 million dollar players sit on the bench.
2. He wants to graduate.
3. Money isn't everything to everyone.
He really is a genuinly good kid. He has a pretty good group of advisors and I think he has done the smart thing.

In an odd way I think the Sam Bradford precedent may have eased concerns about injuries for some elite QBs.
Guy goes down with a bad, ultimately season-wrecking, shoulder injury in game one (probably the worst type of injury for a QB) and STILL comes out as the #1 draft pick and goes on to be sensational in his rookie season.
Possible mssg to some: If you're good enough, you can come back, risk the injury, get injured and the money and success will still be waiting for you.
Hopefully it works out that way for him.Ute-ī sunt fīmī differtī
It can't all be wedding cake.

#1 is a highly relevant point. Combine this with the fact that Carolina has the #1 pick and it makes a lot of sense. His career would have started out in total disarray. Sam Bradford's decision to stay put certainly worked out for him.Originally posted by The_Tick View PostI have some inside knowledge on this one...if some of you think about it you will put two and two together....

Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”
