One of the earlier punts where we were on about the 30 with a 4th and 1, had the false start and moved back to the 35 for a 4th and 6, I felt like that was still potentially "going for it" territory. We netted about 20-25 yards on the punt, so it was probably the right call. Later in the game, the punts were the only calls to make. Same with the decisions to kick FGs. Drives me nuts when we kick a FG to go up 9 and fans boo. Hello! A two score game is MUCH MUCH MUCH better than a 6-point lead. Reminds me of the Utah game in 2007 when it was tied 0-0 and Bronco decided to kick the FG from the 3. The numbnuts infront of me screamed "A FG! WHAT GOOD DOES THAT DO US???" Having listened to crap like that all year I couldn't contain my "It gives us a 3-0 lead dumbasses" comment. I've been better about controlling myself the last two years though.Originally posted by jay santos View PostSame. Boo's when we punt lol.
It amazes me the lack of comprehension of field position and the importance of points to fans in attendance. A play that isn't getting as much talk as it probably should but that was huge in the outcome is the safety early on. Those two points ended up being absolutely huge (although we probably don't go for two, so we still probably have a 4-point lead).

What I wouldn't give for a back like Asiata this year. How many times have we been stopped on 3rd and short this year, trying to run outside the tackles? Of course, there's no guarantee that even if we had someone like Asiata, that Anae wouldn't try to run him outside on 3rd and short."The mind is not a boomerang. We had a back like asiata, except he was much much better. And he could have been suiting up for us this season but for the miracle of forgiveness.Originally posted by Non Sequitur View PostWhat I wouldn't give for a back like Asiata this year. The best part about Harvey playing for us this season is that it whomever made those "where's Harvey" shirts would be feeling pretty stupid and stuck with a bunch of inventory.Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

His name was Unga and he was good. Unga would have had 20+ carries a game and run for a slew of yards. Just another in a long list of circumstances that have us at 3-5

The loss of Harvey this year, especially AFTER Spring ball when everybody was under the impression that forgiveness had been granted and he would be suiting up this fall, is really huge. Having a stud in the backfield like that would have allowed JJ to move to the slot and had less of the pressure be on Heaps, Nelson or even JJ.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostWe had a back like asiata, except he was much much better. I think the presence of Harvey potentially changes the outcomes of the Air Force, Nevada and Utah State games. If one of those games goes the other way, BYU is well on its way to Bowl Eligibility, an extra month of practice and more momentum, IMO.

The miracle of forgiveness has a one semester incubation period and lies dormant during the summer.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostWe had a back like asiata, except he was much much better. And he could have been suiting up for us this season but for the miracle of forgiveness.

A few of my thoughts on the game:
Junkie and I sat next to each other. For any of you watching on the MTN, we were the two shirtless guys spelling out expletives on our chest.
The stadium was rocking on that last Wyoming series. It was too bad that it came down that, but it was definitely fun to cheer on the D and show support.
For the rest of the game, the stadium was it's usual library-like atmosphere.
There were many gay men in attendance today. These men were either on the field during halftime wearing blue shirts and gold ties, or were in the stands taking cell phone video of the halftime show. I chose to flaunt my heterosexuality during the halftime show by leaving to purchase a donut. I changed my mind when I realized how many calories that would be!
It is nice to see juice contributing in his first year. JJ seems to be made of glass...he gets touched and seems to drop. This is where it would be nice to have Harvey to bull over defenders, ESP in short yardage situations. Juice seems to have more of a willingness to bull through. While no Harvey, I think that as juice puts on more muscle, he is going to be nice.
The heaps INT looked worse in person than it did on TV, I am sure. The pick 6 was a slow-mo nightmare to watch unfold from the stands. Not sure if you could tell on tv, but the second he caught it, everyone around us immediately called it a pick 6. And heaps did a lousy job of trying to make the tackle.
Wyomings linebacker is a pretty sweet kicker. In fact, probably a better knuckle punch kicker than a linebacker.
I don't know how many were in attendance, but i was impressed by the numbers, ESP given the weather and the visiting team. Bronco specifically mentioned the attendance in his post game.
I looked and saw a ton of fist rolling. I never hooked up with jay Santos in portal B, so not sure if he ever wound up fist rolling. I didn't fist roll. I did do a cougar paw once, though.
Has there been any discussion regarding our refusal to blitz on wyomings final drive?
I'm in the minority, but I think heaps cannot be written off this season. I'm drawing on my experience with Fat Barkley last season. Pete wouldn't criticize the guy even once and I think it was to his detriment. But he wound up having an ok, not stellar season. This season barkley is even better. I think Jake will improve greatly this offseason. He has then tools, he needs the time. I get that hendidnt have a great game today but I'm still buying heaps right now, not selling.
I am still sticking with my prediction that byu beats unlv, new Mexico, and csu.
Ps junkie wore a poncho and said he was "cold" lol!Last edited by TripletDaddy; 10-23-2010, 07:43 PM.Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

30-yard line on the south side. Yeah the crowd came to life relative to the rest of the game, but it just didn't seem to be anywhere near the intensity of other close games at LES. I thought the crowd was much, much louder at the end of the Washington game. But maybe that's just me. I was still dazed from the sucker punch to the gut from my Longhorns losing at home to Iowa Freakin' State for the first time ever.Originally posted by cougjunkie View PostAlso Lebowski just curious where are your seats? I was in section 8 right on about the 25 and from where I sat it seemed like the stadium got pretty loud for that last defensive stand. 61,000 showed up to a game between two 2-5 teams in a huge rainstorm. I think that is pretty impressive.Last edited by Jeff Lebowski; 10-23-2010, 08:03 PM."There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right?
