That TCU has more sacks really isn't the point here.

Utah has won a lot of games this year because of it's defense. That's the point.

As for sacks, I think Kruger alone has 9 or so and Misi has 3 or 4, so your number of total sacks for the Utah team isn't quite accurate.

Kruger has 7.5 and I agree the sack totals dont matter much. The one thing I will say is that BYU has more problems with speed rushers, which neither Kruger or Misi are. Not that they have any advantage but historically speed rushers kill us more than bigger ends.

I agree. Kruger and Misi are more power than speed and that is a better situation for BYU in that regard.

One thing about Kruger though that a lot of people forget is that he was recruited as a QB and understands how a QB thinks. I honestly think that helps him more than speed would as a DE.

The one thing I will say that Kruger seems to do well is bat down a lot of passes, maybe that is the QB mentality.

Could be. He does have a knack at being in the right spot to knock it down.

Of course, a QB can avoid knock downs if he makes a good throw every time.

EDIT: Kruger has 7.5 sacks (52 yards total), Misi has 3 sacks (18 yards), Newman has 1.5 sacks (17 yards total), Stanford and Fotu both have 2 sacks a piece (17 and 14 yards respectively) and four others each have a sack a piece. 22 total sacks on the year.
I like ERCougar's numbers better, so I'll believe them.

Yes. Vegas Bowl gets first choice, and can choose whoever they want, I believe.

I'd like to put the sack thing to rest. The following is copied from the NCAA's statistics site:

                  SACKS
                  Year: 2008 Thru: 11/15/08
                  Rank Name Sacks
                  1 TCU 3.64
                  2 Air Force 2.64
                  3 Utah 1.91
                  4 BYU 1.82
                  5 New Mexico 1.75
                  6 Wyoming 1.55
                  7 San Diego St. 1.09
                  8 UNLV 1
                  9 Colorado St. .73

You can see it here: http://web1.ncaa.org/mfb/2008/Intern...0005486TD.HTML

BYU is getting 1.82 sacks per game: over 11 games, that's 20 sacks, total. Utah is getting 1.91 sacks per game: over 11 games, that's 21 sacks, total. TCU is getting 3.64 sacks per game: over 11 games, that's 40 sacks, or almost twice as many as BYU or Utah are getting.

Hope this clarifies things a bit. By the way, Air Force has 10 more sacks than Utah.
