Commando-- Stadium rager/Blue blooded asshole Ute fan antagonizer. Emphatically agrees with everything Max Hall said, with the exception of a few friends that love Utah with whom he avoids all sports conversations to preserve the friendship. However, being from Idaho, has created new rifts and contentions with friends and family who love BSU now that they've developed an adulterous love affair with Eastern Idaho-- formerly Cougar Country.

Not sure what this makes me, but the Utes are my second favorite team.

When BYU plays against them, I really, really dislike the Utes, their fans and local sports guys who kiss the Utes butts. I would guess I am extemely orthodox for a few hours a year.

I'm with 71. Utes are my second favorite team. I love their coaches and the kids they recruit. I cheer for them and watch them against everyone except BYU. Then I watch them but don't cheer for them. I suppose my position makes sense since I am a Cougar who attended the U for grad school.

Excellent point. It was tough being a westerner and not being able to in good conscience cheer for a PAC10 team.

I am not very anti-Ute. I hope they do well for the most part. In fact, I grew so tired of teams from the MWC being poor mouthed by the SEC that I was not sorry at all when the Utes blitzed my alma mater in the Sugar Bowl (althought by now I am quite tired of hearing about it).

So long as they are laughed at by the national establishment I will pull for them, especially on the big stage (though I would be very unhappy if Bama had something to play for in a game they played). I think this is because I am a native Utahn and I get sick of seeing the place denigrated and mocked and the Utes are a team from my state.

However, it's hard not to feel anger and dislike for any group of fans who dislike you for being who you are and I am a Cougar fan. My mother woke us every morning by saying "Rise and Shout Cougars," and try as I might to temper my feelings for what is a sometimes embarrassing institution (think Rodin) I still love it.
