    1. No. I'm not happy with Heaps' performance on the field. I have no idea if this is due to Anae, the receivers, the lack of tight end, or Heaps, but I think we have the right to expect that even in a down year, our QB will perform better against Wyoming and Utah State.

    2. Bronco's made some mistakes, but so do I in my job, and he's not the type to ignore learning "moments". I'm still happy with him as our coach. He's earned some leeway.

    3. UNLV : easy W
    UNM: easy W
CSU: tight W (ugh...that's so painful to predict)

Utah's interesting. Maybe my confidence stems from the fact that the only game I've seen them play was against Pitt. Maybe it's my eternal optimism or battered wife syndrome. But I think the bye week and the next two easy games will be a perfect opportunity to find a consistent TE, get the timing of our passing game down, and get Heaps some confidence. If confidence is truly Heaps' problem, then the 5 game winning streak should be nice to build that. Our defense is getting really solid, and I've seen brief flashes of an offense. I think that if used correctly, our three backs could give a tough change of pace look to a defense, and if we find a tight end, we'll have a nice combo. If we come to RES on a 5 game winning streak, we could give them a game.

    4. We'll go bowling.
At least the Big Ten went after a big-time addition in Nebraska; the Pac-10 wanted a game so badly, it added Utah

      1. Heaps is not as far along as I would have hoped. He still makes awful decisions and UD may have said it best that his skill set is so good that its hard to jump all over him because you see this bright future. But he may never full reach his potential if he does not start making better decisions (just like George and Cutler). However I will say as bad as that throw int was on Saturday I watched Aaron Rodgers and Bret Favre both do the exact same thing on almost identical routes. So no matter how much he progresses he will still make mistakes. Also he was 3-5 for 41 yards and a 1 td in the 2nd half. Something to build on.

      2. Bronco made some mistakes in trying to delegate to the wrong people. You definitely need to delegate but you have to do so to coaches that are on the same page as you. He has also proven that he is a great football coach. What he has done with this band of misfits on defense is nothing short of remarkable. Since he has taken over BYU has given up an average of 275 yards per game. That would put them 7th nationally in total defense. They have done this while playing the 11th and 19th best offensive teams.

      3. I think BYU wins their next 3 for sure.

      4. We go bowling and I am not sure how we do. But for next year this team needs a bowl game in the worst way as the extra weeks of practice could really help.

        1. Heaps has lived up to my expectations of a true freshman, but not to my expectations of Jake Heaps. He had so much hype surrounding him, it was difficult not to buy in to him as the exception. The game will slow down for him at some point and he'll be fine, hopefully great. Excepting J.J. Diluigi, I'm more disappointed in the lack of upperclassman leadership in helping him along than I am of Jake Heaps. Jacobson and Ashworth are old-timers, LA goes back to the Bronco's first year and MJ played a pivotal role in the "Harline is open" drive. Unless there are injuries we don't know about, their play this season is unacceptable.

        2. I give Bronco a solid C- on the season. His weaknesses were obvious and all boil down to his lack of involvement in trouble areas; game-planning, scheme, personnel, chemistry, etc. I am heartened that he's in the process of attempting to correct the mistakes and could end the season with a C+ or B-.

        3. Cougs win the next three and I don't really want to talk about Utah if that's okay.

        4. BYU will win their bowl game.

          1. Heaps started gangbusters, but I think he was a bit hampered (understatement) by shitty receiver play early and we are seeing the effects of his adjustments now. That dart to Ashworth was the kind of ball he's been throwing all year that nobody's been catching, so he's stopped throwing it. Matthews looks great about 50 percent of the time. His drop was a drive/momentum killer. I think Heaps will be fine- especially as he works out with his guys in the spring and summer and fall (Hoffman, Wilson, Matthews, the tight ends whose names start w. M) I'm a little irritated that McKay J. hasn't taken this offense by the balls, but whatever. If we had any semblance of a red-zone offense, we beat AF, NV, and Utah State. Maybe TCU, because a decent red zone O doesn't turn the effing ball over down there and as a result make the D play against all odds and give up 14 in 45 seconds. I don't think this team is as shitty as it's looked at times. At all.

          2. Bronco pissed me off in the week leading up to the AF game and DURING the game. I had flashbacks of him mentioning that he didn't so much as peek his head into the defensive prep meetings when all indicators were that he was the mastermind behind BYU's traditionally AF killing D. He has redeemed himself since then, although I think he should have grabbed the reins at halftime of AF and never looked back-- he should not have had to relinquish an ass kicking to the Aggies first.

          3. We will win the next 3 for sure, stay tight w/ Utah and maybe win. I think with all the reps for the young'ns on D and the progress we've seen, if we put together a good offensive scheme we have a chance. Especially with the return of Pendleton and the timely emergence of KVN (not to mention Hoffman. Anybody miss OC on special teams this week?) We use this BYE week to shore up some offensive passing scheme and receiver work and it pays off, although we'd kill UNLV and NM anyway, so it will be vanilla for those games.

          4. We go bowling and win going away because we will prep hard and it will be a horrible team.

Off the top of my head, and in no particular order:
            • Weddle
            • Kareem Leary - The original shutdown corner.

            • RoJo - If we include safeties, which Weddle really was

That's the cream of the crop. Next step down, again in no order:
            • Sean Smith - An A for his senior year when he finally learned to tackle
            • McCain
            • Burton - Could move up into that top group before his career is done

            Round out the top 10:
            • Antoine Sanders
            • Arnold Parker
            • Harold Lusk.

            That's how I'd rank them.
