Good question. Rocky Long comes to mind but I do not think Bronco wants to run a 3-3-5 any longer he is also much more conservative than Rocky so that may not be a good fit.

Obviously their is a reason Kaufusi has never been talked about as a DC so he is out.

In a perfect world we go out and convince Dave Campo to embrace his mormon roots. But I do not see that happening.

I think you'd have to know what Rocky Long's aspirations are about being a HC again before going after him. I've heard Ted Cottrell has strong LDS ties, although he may not be LDS himself. No matter. He would be an outstanding get for BYU, not just for Xs and Os, but because he's black as well.

I just decided who I want as DC. Joe Seumalo Oregon States D-line coach. He is not LDS however he is very religious and he is christian so he would have no problem fitting in. He has consistently coached one of the top D-lines in the country. OSU has a very similar recruiting base to both BYU and Utah, he is polynesian and I think he would be a very solid get for BYU.

I don't want him. He is a figure head for Whits defense. He would not bring much to BYU in regards to developing his own schemes he has also only been coaching on the defensive side of the ball for a few years.

He would help with recruiting but thats about it.

You are right on this. This is Fred Whittingham's defense: put your corners on an island and bring the heat from all over the place.

To run it, you have to be able to recruit secondary guys that can blanket one-on-one. Not exactly BYU's strength.

A lunch pale defense with at best average secondary, built around a great DL and solid LB play. That would work at BYU.
