Perhaps because Standford doesn't rate high enough in the product of all their priorities.Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!
For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.
Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

What puts it in perspective is considering that every year Stanford rejects a lot of kids with 4.0's and perfect SAT's. If your scores are anything at all less than perfect and you're not in the youth orchestra or student body president or the like your odds of being admitted are long.Originally posted by myboynoah View PostPerhaps because Standford doesn't rate high enough in the product of all their priorities.
Any adult who doesn't steer a kid recruited by Stanford to Stanford does him a huge disservice. It's as close as it gets to having it all. Competitive in the Pac 10 and academics absolutely shoulder to shoulder with Harvard and Yale. When a true genius appears, you can know him by this sign: that all the dunces are in a confederacy against him.

Where's the next Cliff Doman or Ned Stearns in this year's recruiting class? BYU just doesn't get those kind of athletes anymore.Originally posted by Sizzle View Posthttp://www.byucougars.com/Filing.jsp?ID=11757
So far we have:
Jordan Atkinson
Remington Peck
Terry Alleto
Fono Vakalahi
Two centers, a TE and a JC LBer. Is Atkinson a worthwhile get? He sounds like he was going to be a Cougar given his history/family tradition... can he contribute?Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

I don't dispute any of this, but we have the luxury of 20-30 years of experience upon which to draw. For most of these kids, and their parents, I suspect the biggest priority is exposure and playing at the next level. It's hard for Stanford to compete in that arena.Originally posted by SeattleUte View PostWhat puts it in perspective is considering that every year Stanford rejects a lot of kids with 4.0's and perfect SAT's.
