I'm not a lawyer, but I would think the employer-employee dynamic is a lot different than the university-student dynamic. In the former, an employee is an agent of the employer and the employer can be held responsible for the employee's bad acts. Employers don't dismiss employees with DUI's out of a sense of moral correctness, they do it to cover their ass."The mind is not a boomerang. If you throw it too far it will not come back." ~ Tom McGuane

Which is sort of the point, isn't it? Apparently Meyer and his buddies don't think there is anything that needs to be covered there, whereas everywhere else they do. Whether the covering is for liability, morality, reputation or something else, most places would be unhappy with a 16% arrest rate. Urban just wants the kids to have fun. And win.Originally posted by Non Sequitur View PostI'm not a lawyer, but I would think the employer-employee dynamic is a lot different than the university-student dynamic. Everyone has there own opinions on what would make a person a "piece of shit". It is obvious that you and I are not on the same page.Originally posted by jay santos View PostWhat else qualifies for being piece of shit? Murderers? Liars? Adulterers? Thieves? Fornicators? Masturbators? Cheat on taxes? Beat someone up? Flip someone off in traffic? Jealous of coworker? Self righteous who don't need Christ?
Can pieces of shit repent? Once a piece of shit always a piece of shit?"Take it to the Bank"

Well, it depends on a lot of things. Here's the policy where I work:Originally posted by Hot Lunch View PostHonest question for you Wuap, what would happen to a normal student if he got a DUI and the university found out?
The administration reserves the right to administratively
withdraw any student who is disruptive to the educational process of the College or to its living and learning environments. This may occur if the studentis deemed to be a danger to him- or herself, to other members of the College community, or to College property. Specific behaviors which might constitute grounds for administrative withdrawal include, but are not limited to suicide gestures or attempts; infliction of bodily harm; alcohol poisoning; drug overdose/abuse; refusal of medical transport; criminal charges; and concerns expressed by community members regarding extreme behaviors.
A student withdrawn under the procedure for administrative withdrawal may
not re-enroll at the College without the approval of the Vice President for Student Services and/or the Provost. Prior to approval for readmittance, the student may be required to fulfill certain requirements specified by the administration.
If a currently enrolled student is charged with a crime that would also be a violation of College regulations, the student may be administratively withdrawn until the case has been resolved by the court system. Upon final resolution of the charges, the submission of an application for readmission, and presentation of final evidence of the court’s ruling, the Academic Standards Committee will review all information. The Academic Standards Committee reserves the right to accept or deny the application for readmission."Wuap's "problem" is that he is smart & principled & committed to a moral course of action. His actions are supposed to reflect his ethical code.
The rest of us rarely bother to think about our actions." --Solon

Oh, I didn't mean to come off that way. What I thought I was saying was that after 30 arrests it might be time to do things a little differently. I'm sure that one of those players were my son, I would feel differently.Originally posted by UtahDan View PostI don't think you can be outraged about players keeping their spots without being specific about what they did. We all have a tendency to be very law in order in general but want mercy when we know the particulars. We would all agree that a kid who does an armed robbery should be done. But what about a kid caught with a joint? What if it was your son?"75-10 the last two games? Is my math right? It's enough to make me reconsider my embrace of science over Christianity."--SU
