All I can recall is risking my life crossing the street to help hot runners in distress. And ugly runners too.

And I looked much uglier after I puked, I acknowledge it. thanks again for the clif bar.

I also think the rankings are silly to do before late October or so. Now, Utah's next opponent will get all riled up to play a "top-15" team and play that much harder to prove themselves.

I'd rather keep expectations low until the end.

(and Utah at 14 isn't going to last long unless Wynn gets his footwork straightened out or Cain gets a stronger arm)

Put me down as skeptical about Utah's #14 ranking. It's nice to see, but the season is very young and I agree with what Senioritis wrote:

They may be inaccurate. They may be arbitrary. But the one thing early season rankings are not is meaningless. In years when one- or even two-loss teams end up playing for the title, a team's preseason placement is absolutely critical.

Here in CA, ER docs don't have admitting privileges. Is that different in Utah?

We write holding orders, that are valid for something like 12-24 hours (I can't remember). We do this because our primary care docs are uber-lazy.

Actually, our setup is pretty common and probably the rule throughout the country, even in CA. It's hospital-dependent.

I agree. Utah being arbitrarily and subjectively 14th is no less or no more arbitrary and subjective than Florida being 7/10 or West Virginia being 21/21.

Hospitalists are well-established here. The ER docs just hand them off to the hospitalists if the patients are unassigned.

This is true. Pre-season and early season rankings are very meaningful but not very accurate.
