I think TT got money drunk and took the us against the world mentality too far. They got so comfortable playing the villain when everyone (unfairly in my opinion) kept calling them out for "buying" a championship last year, that they let challenging the status quo become their whole personality. So much so that they decided it was a good strategy to endanger the entire foundation of the integrity of college sporting events just because everyone was telling them their QB they signed shouldn't play.

I think as this progresses they will wish they had a do-over to go back and jetison Sorsby when the news broke and was verified. I am usually against boycotts in sports but I hope this continues and TT is shamed into submission. The arguments they made for sorsby are embarrassing.

I'm guessing Texas Tech retreats pretty soon, given the backlash. We'll see. The Big 12 itself hasn't said anything, as far as I know, but there are multiple reports of the teams discussing with each other to refuse to play them.

The reaction from Tech fans has been fascinating and depressing. Almost all of them are indignant and are insisting that Tech has done nothing wrong, everyone else would have done the same thing, etc. Zero self-awareness of the basic ethics at the foundation of this. Interesting case study in bias and tribalism.

        David Burge gets it.

My anger is increasing, not decreasing with time, as I see each new TT double down. I hope this ends up erasing all their progress in football.

His coach said at a booster meeting that Sorsby may not play at all (although the reason would be failure to abide by his recovery plan). I take that as a step in the right direction.

Texas tech's press release is they had no involvement t in the lawsuit. Sorsby exercised his right to file suit and justice was served so we should all move on to help him in his recovery which is the most important consideration right? AD hocutt mimicking those pathetic talking points to the media and being the lone dissenting vote against exploring conference sanctions in a closed door meeting with big 12 ADs.

While texas tech claiming they are not incolved at all, texas AG releases a preemptive statment saying they will sue the big 12 if they make any move against tech at all vis a vis sorsby.

GM noted Joey McGuires comments about sorsby potentially not being available because he isnt recovered yet as a step in the right direction. By my impression is it is more doubling down behind the bogus contention that a supposed addict's recovery and purported rights trump all other systemic considerations in this case. Especially since McGuire compared sorsbys addiction recovery directly to Will Hammond's ACL recovery. Really pathetic stuff from a coach I had respected until now.

We have completely lost the plot on this issue. People clearly only motivated by money and football wins get to feign compassion for a supposed addict while saying with a straight face that the best thing for his recovery is to suffer zero meaningful consequences for breaking the cardinal rule governing the privilege of playing high level sports going back over 100 years to the Black Sox. All assisted by the indispensable attorneys, guardians of our rights.

Barring a major reversal that throws sorsby out and punishes TT, CFB has jumped the shark.

I now hate Texas Tech with the fire of 1000 suns. I’m praying that we boot them from the conference. This whole thing is beyond pathetic. Shameless SOB’s.

I honestly don't think that they'll play him. Pressure is mounting from every angle. And I think the NCAA can force the issue if they want to expedite the case. OTOH, the NCAA is milquetoast a lot of the time. I do think this will cause Tech to alter their NIL contract, because something tells me Sorsby gets to keep some or all of the cash (pure speculation), and that $6mm could have gotten them another lineman or two.

Are these NIL contracts currently so careless that they dont have clawback provisions that are activated if players are ruled intelligible by the NCAA as a result of their own wilfull violation of rules or laws?
