This is good stuff. Nicely done, Pres. Samuelson. Now Mike Young needs to say, "Amen."
Maybe you should try leading by example.

You're just unhappy that one of the founders of the Crimson Club is now BYU's president and trying to teach you guys good sportsmanship. That's what it's going to take, I guess.

Tell us more about sportsmanship. You really seem to have grasped the concept.

Hey BYU Guy, we've missed you around here. Welcome back!

It's easy. You are nice to me and my team and its fans under all circumstances, no matter what I say or do or what my team or its fans say or do. That's sportsmanship. Not so hard to understand, is it?

I seriously do admire Samuelson for raising the subject and wish Young would jump on the bandwagon.

A college president talking about sportsmanship is dorky and patronizing. He should be talking about kicking ass, not being nice.

Side note: I reject everything our Ute president says about the rivalry. For 364 days a year we can be nice, but for crying out loud, let us act like raging idiots for the rivalry game.

I have a hunch that you are being facetious here.

What I've noticed by fans who insist on being "raging idiots" during a rivalry game is that it's usually at the expense of a lot of the other fans around them, be it opposing teams fans or fans of the home team. I think this is very rude and inconsiderate. Everyone should be able to enjoy the game (This doesn't mean that I'm completely innocent here- my dad and I were waving goodbye to BYU fans at the last rivalry game at RES).

I GET it. I GET that its fun to be passionate about that sort of thing. But at what cost?

I don't think he was talking about one day a year.
