I think Dave Rose will be able to keep these teams on the OOC schedule. I believe Kruger, Fisher, and Alford have all said they are interested in continuing the games."It's devastating, because we lost to a team that's not even in the Pac-12. To lose to Utah State is horrible." - John White IV

PAC-12 conference opener; Utah's first conference game as a member of a BCS conference. I could see it. There are other options (Bama/Penn St; Michigan/Notre Dame; South Carolina/Georgia) but Utah/USC offers the most intrigue, IMO.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostWhy would CGD go to either of those games?
Also, I meant to say ABC could be choosing between those two games."I don't know the origin of said bitch booming."-Art Vandelay

I Think Michigan/Notre Dame probably has the most intrigue. ABC could carry both games during the same time slight and televise it regionally. I know during the 3:30 EST kickoff games on ABC, there were 3 or 4 regional games broadcast. In Vegas last year USC always seemed to play in the night game televised on ABC.Originally posted by BoylenOver View PostPAC-12 conference opener; Utah's first conference game as a member of a BCS conference. Intriguing indeed. They should call it the Has-Been Bowl.Originally posted by USU Coug View PostI Think Michigan/Notre Dame probably has the most intrigue. Really? Notre Dame on the rise, Michigan with a new coach... ABC/ESPN eats up that crap. Its not a game I would prefer to watch over a team on the west, but I think its the more intriguing game for the country as a whole.Originally posted by RedSox View PostIntriguing indeed. Yikes, you are zooting out a bit. Very unlike you.Originally posted by BoylenOver View PostPAC-12 conference opener; Utah's first conference game as a member of a BCS conference. I could see it. Utah likely will not be ranked, they have no QB, they went into the off season in total disarray. SC is on SanCtions and is ineligible for a bowl game.
The only angle of interest to anyone is the one you didn't mention. Return of NoCho. But even that is not compelling because he had already been back and Pete is gone.. NoCho has already played SC a few times and been destroyed each year.
I think the college football world has about as much interest in Utah's first Game as a BCS member as BYUs first game as an independent. Which is why CGD won't be at either LA or Austin.Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

The first game of the new PAC-12? Utah's first trip to the Coliseum in 63 years? Nothing, really?Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostYikes, you are zooting out a bit. Very unlike you.

BTW Wynn will be 100% by the start of fall camp. Saying we don't have a QB is a bit disingenuous."I don't know the origin of said bitch booming."-Art Vandelay

Well, I'm unaware if any great clamor amongst SC fans for the Utah game, so I guess I dont see a national interest. Why do you feel that it is a compelling story that Utah hasn't played in the coliseum for 60 years? There is no rivalry, no tradition between the two teams.Originally posted by BoylenOver View PostThe first game of the new PAC-12? Utah's first trip to the Coliseum in 63 years? Nothing, really?

Also, there will also be a first game for the new B10 and the new Big East. Do you predict that CGD will go to all of those, as well? Maybe cover TCUs first game as a BCS team? In fact, TCU just won the rose bowl. Why would CGD milk that storyline for Utah over TCU?
I don't even see the appeal from the SC side. SC is not predicted to be an AP top 10 team next season. seriously, I guess I'm having a tough time seeing what you are seeing.
Te last couple of times CGD came to LA...vs #1 oregon and vs top ten Ohio State, when SC was #3 I believe. There is a pattern there that the SC Utah game lacks.Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

Yeah, IMO this will be an obvious choice for CGD.
In terms of national followings both ND and Michigan are probably both in the top 5 nationally in spite of their sucky recent histories. And it's a classic matchup, a long running historical rivalry.Ute-ī sunt fīmī differtī

ND and Michigan have a bigger collective fanbase than Utah/USC, but CGD hasn't been to this game since 2003.Originally posted by dabrockster View PostMichigan vs ND will be chosen.. Nationally, they have a larger following that will steer this game above all others..
I'd be willing to make a (friendly & modest) wager with anyone that will take it regarding the following: CGD will pick Bama/Penn St or Utah/USC before they pick Michigan/ND."I don't know the origin of said bitch booming."-Art Vandelay

So did I - but on my own initiative not because I need Sean Connery telling me how to vote -)).
But for real - who knows?
So many variables. I'm sure teams are waiting to see how things play. How committed is ESPN to our relationship? How well does BYU do next year? What's been agreed to already that we don't know about?
We'll see how it plays.Ute-ī sunt fīmī differtī
