  • From the Nebraska board:

They tried to get this done with Stevie P but he wouldn't sign off on this game. TO learned about it not quite a year ago from a BYU alum. He wanted to get it done.

Right now they are in negotiation for Denver and the use of the Bronco's field. If that falls through San Antonio or KC are next on the list but don't rule out Jerry's world if they can't make it work in Denver. But right now Dallas is 4th on the list.

    • I'd imagine UNL's scheduling philosophy...

Right now, it appears many Big Ten ADs want to stay at 8 games and the Big Ten usually doesn't make a change like this unless they have a firm consensus.
is about to change. Playing in the Legends division, wins are gonna be harder to come by than in the Norte. I'm guessing that UNL starts looking for some easy wins in Lincoln to make up for the difference between Ames and Ann Arbor. Tough games out of state against tough teams that also travel well will not be on the agenda.

Not below, just two posts above.

Some jackass that calls himself "The Dude" doesn't like this rumor:

BYU's claim to fame is they won the biggest fluke of a national title of all time almost 3 decades ago. I really don't see how they deserve playing a neutral site game with NU. A home and home is pushing it.

We should have a Dude-off to see which version of the Dude is superior.

                • These last two pages have been a very funny read. For whoever's going on and on about Nebraska's elite profitability and attendance, they didn't even make the top ten most profitable football programs the last several years, let alone the top five.

Nebraska's OOC scheduling has already changed...and not for the better... easy wins are routinely scheduled (only meat on the OOC schedule was against Virginia Tech and Nebraska lost both games):
2008: W. Michigan; San Jose St; New Mexico St.; Virginia Tech
2009: Fla. Atlantic; Arkansas St.; @Virginia Tech, Louisiana-Lafayette
2010: W. Kentucky; Idaho; @Washington; South Dakota St.
2011: Chattanooga; Fresno St.; Washington; @Wyoming

I liked this thread better with the pics of Cougar nation traveling and tailgating:

I haven't made claims to Nebraska's elite profitabilty - only that their athletic budget depends on 7 home games a season. While Nebraska is not in the same league as Texas, Forbes ranked Nebraska #4 (and OU #10) in value (a different measurement than profitability although it is considered). The rankings may vary year-to-year based on BCS bowl participation but I suspect Nebraska will become more valuable/profitable in the Big Ten.

As far as attendance, one might look up who holds the current streak of consecutive home sell outs (it dates back to 1962). There are about a donzen schools that have larger stadiums but Memorial Stadium in Lincoln has always sold out.

Edit: Looked up the profitability numbers from US Dept. of Education and listed the 14 emembers of the 30+ million club in profits. You're correct to point out that Nebraska is nothing special when it comes to just looking at profitability. There's some serious money in the SEC - half of the top 14!

Yeah, I don't know. I just used the numbers for last season, as reported by the schools to the Department of Education. Forbes says they did their own calculations.
