You don't want to know the depths of it. I've been cutting back but it used to be bad.

I bet I could have named all of them off the top of my head.

From my vantage point (north endzone) I thought Ogletree had the worst day of the bunch. Instead of taking on blocks he went around them and took himself right out of the play on several occasions, and I'm not talking about turning it back inside or towards the defense either. I might be wrong in my assessment but he's the one that so far I am most disappointed in. BTW, Pendleton has skills that one day will pay the bills.

I am partial to BO. His uncle was a cadet with me for a year after I came off my mission and before he went on his. I really figured he would be one to step up, but with you saying this it makes one pause to think. He has been in the program for as long as Shane Hunter, BO redshirted and is now a sophmore. Yet with his time in the program he cannot move ahead of a walk-on or seperate himself from a guy who has been around since January or another guy who came off his mission in June. Perhaps when the dust settles it will be Jorgenson and ALW who become the two starters.

THere were couple QB draws where I watched Ogletree back pedal and let Locker go right up the gut instead of taking on the blocker. Could not figure out what he was doing.

I notice Kaveinga is listed at 5'11 236 now. Did he really drop 20 lbs or was the previous 255 wrong? Does he look a lot faster now?

                  Yeah he definitely dropped weight.

I don't have the link but there was some video - was it from TrueBlue? - of him being interviewed and it showed him running a variety of drills throughout and I thought he looked extremely fluid and quick - I can't say if he used to look that way when he was heavier, but he sure does now.

I pay attention to the weights because they usually correlate with speed. I haven't paid attention enough myself, and you can't trust the hype machine that reports on practices because everyone sounds like they're built like bodybuilders and run like Olympic sprinters.

I notice our DL all goes 280 and up. I imagine if we're going to get an outside rush, it's going to come from the LB's.

Our LB's all pretty much go 230-240. I like that, but I wouldn't mind seeing even lighter and faster.

BYU's front seven has always had the reputation for being big and strong and physical but slow. If you compare our weights to other teams that are considered fast, it's obvious why this is the case. Fast teams usually go with big DT's, DE's that are 250-265ish, MLB 250ish, OLB's 220-240.

I don't think that BYU is planning much pass rush from its DEs this year. If Pendleton and Van Noy stay healthy, I tend to believe they will be OK.

I'm not complaining or being pessimistic. Looking at this mostly helps me understand what Bronco is trying to do with different positions. I agree the pass rush will likely come from OLB, which is fine.

The D looks like it will be fantastic.

Yeah, I saw that. That's where I started feeling much better about the preexisting doubt I had about Kaveinga as a stud LB at 5'11 255.

I like this trend: Kaveinga, Hauge both down about 20 lbs and looking fit and fast. I also noticed Matt Reynolds is listed at barely over 300. This is very un-Omar like. Is this something we're emphasizing?

Well if the airbrushed poster in this post is any indication, the O-line looks leaner and meaner!
