There's good reason to temper the optimism. We still don't know how good Washington is going to be. That was a team that went 5-7 last year, after all.
Smart money as of now would be on TCU, Utah, and Florida State. Nevada and AFA are games that BYU should win, but could lose (particularly AFA). That said, to predict a 10 win season would be optimistic, but not wildly so.τὸν ἥλιον ἀνατέλλοντα πλείονες ἢ δυόμενον προσκυνοῦσιν

Fixed it for you.Originally posted by smokymountainrain View PostWell, I guess after losing 3 out of the last 4, Utah is due. But outside of that, I'm failing to see how that is a "lock" loss after watching how shitty the utes played at home against a ranked Pitt team.
Let's not kid ourselves. Neither BYU nor Utah played terrificly well against their respective opponents. Both showed signs of weakness which will either be fixed or lead to losses. And I agree that this game is not a lock, especially as of now.τὸν ἥλιον ἀνατέλλοντα πλείονες ἢ δυόμενον προσκυνοῦσιν

No, but it is probably more relevant than what happened between BYU-Utah in 2004.Originally posted by Top Ute View PostIs what Nelson did in 2006 really relevant here? He's never started in a Utah-BYU game, while Wynn has.Do Your Damnedest In An Ostentatious Manner All The Time!

I'm choosing to mostly ignore your fatuity here and instead overwhelm you with so much data that you'll maybe, just maybe, realize that you have reams to read on this subject before you can contribute meaningfully to any conversation on this topic.

Same. I actually believed some of the hype that UW was back. However, I did tell UtahDan as we were picking up our pregame Chipotle burritos that if Locker has 100 yards on the ground we were going to lose. I said we need to keep him in check and make him beat us with his arm.Originally posted by MarkGrace View PostI had UW penciled in as a loss, and since we won I guess that makes me more optimistic about our ultimate record."Nobody listens to Turtle."-Turtlesigpic

It's poll votes such as that and the humor that comes with them that makes me think all polls should public. There should be no other options.Originally posted by Art Vandelay View PostThe 1 dissenting vote made me laugh out loud and feel even more optimistic about the week 1 victory.I'm like LeBron James.

Curious, fellow Cougar fans: why are we discrediting Pitt's and the U's victory? The sample is far too limited to tell whether Pitt, Utah, BYU or UW are good or not. I'm shocked to be saying this, but sometimes I think we need to bring more civility and class to the rivalry. I hope U fans think a W against BYU is a lock...I want Whittinghaem and the U's players to think the same thing.Jesus wants me for a sunbeam.

The game coulld have been against Alabama, in Tuscaloosa, with BYU winnining by 3 touchdowns, and that vote would still be the same.Originally posted by Art Vandelay View PostThe 1 dissenting vote made me laugh out loud and feel even more optimistic about the week 1 victory."It's true that everything happens for a reason. I see BYU losing to TCU, Florida State, and Utah. Beating Washington was a surprise, though I don't think either of them played very well.Originally posted by All-American View PostThat said, to predict a 10 win season would be optimistic, but not wildly so."Don't expect I'll see you 'till after the race"
