I don't hate BSU. They are one of my favorite teams to watch. I don't necessarily cheer for them, though I have. I have rooted for them in their BCS bowls.

I don't see a ton to be jealous of (other than 2 BCS wins) but they are worthy of admiration or at the very least they are worthy of a healthy does of respect.

This isn't so much a question for you Niku because I have noticed that you are not alone in your BSU hate. It just baffles me though.
I wish I had an explanation, but I don't. Part of it is because I think they are built on gimmicks and tomfoolery. Part of it is that damned blue field and the loopholes by which they keep it. I would hate them even if I wasn't a BYU fan, and I have no explanation as to why.

EDIT: In other words, exactly what Coach said. I don't really hate Utah - oh, sure, some weeks I hope their unrighteousness brings upon then gonorrhea - but most of the time I hope Utah does well, and I really respect what Urban and now Kyle have done with a program that struggled for consistency for many years. When Utah played Alabama, there was no doubt about what shade of red I donned. And if they made it to the NC, I'd hate that we would have (presumably) lost to them on the way, but I'd wish them the best in the game. Part of that is because Utah represents the state in which I grew up. I would likely hate them more if I actually lived there.

On my part it is jealousy.

But I have to say, it's not their fault that their conference is made up of the Wednesday's Children of yesteryear. I laugh lustily that their new conference isn't a whole lot better, now that we've all given the MWC a fervent double-bird of righteousness.

    I can't explain, it's just how I feel.

I have no problem with split national champions, seeing that's often been the case over the last 100 years or so.
You make a fair point that split national champs is possible. My comment is more about my dislike/distrust of the BCS.

    This.

What else could they have done? They went on the road (ok, technically, a neutral site, but not really) to face a top ten Va Tech and scheduled as many quality opponents as would pick up the phone. They win their games. If they don't get a shot, then you basically say that nothing they do is good enough.

We're obviously counting chickens before they hatch, since they've not won a single game this year yet, but you get the point.

I support this post. As a BSU fan I am extremely happy the direction this team is headed. My worry is if we win tonight, too many people will overlook some worthy opponents. OSU and Utah State come to mind real quick. It will be a fun ride and it all starts tonight! Time to get on the road so I can be home in time to watch the game!
