Your Utah question could be answered with Eric Weddle. If you don't like Weddle, you've got a problem.
Morgan Scalley probably belongs in the same convorsation.

Man it's so good to have Jim back in the stadium that he pretty much helped build. I heard on the KSL interview how he doesn't like watching football, but loves playing. Hopefully running out with the flag and players will give him as close to that feeling as he can get, and maybe get him excited about this team. I know I'd respond to a competitor like that. Too bad he didn't meat Max Hall, who in my opinion, was the Mormon version of him.

You could be right, I'm pretty sure my source of 'knowledge' on this one came from CB or something.

Regardless, my opinion is that his jersey should be retired and he should be in the BYU HOF, graduate or not. There are always exceptions to the rule.

How was the halftime show w McMahon? The announcers and detmer (a class act as always) made it sound like the crowd went wild for him.

He got probably the 3rd loudest cheer, behind Coach who was clearly the loudest. He was probably pretty close to Steve Young in reception. Hopefully he felt welcome and won't take 10+ years to come back again.

Exactly. Hopefully that means Riley Nelson will be the next version of Steve Young (lefty scrambler) and Heaps of Robbie Bosco (talented QB who leads BYU to a National Title).

The halftime show was emotional for me. Seeing all my childhood heroes out there on the field with LaVell was about as good as it gets.

An unimportant question but I'll ask it anyway: Doesn't Jimmy Mac have to live by the Honor Code to be readmitted to BYU to finish his degree?

Perhaps, as much as any other reason, that has been the delay in him finishing his degree.

                Maybe he'll do it online?

No kidding. That was seriously cool. My dad played with Virgil Carter so it was fun to be at the game with him. I remember McMahon onward really well and how cool to get them all together.

What else was just amazing was listening to the list of national awards Lavell's players picked up. Doak Walker, Davey O'Brien, Outland, All-American QB's (did he say 9???), Heisman, and National Championship. There aren't a lot of programs in the country that rattle off that kind of list.

Best half ever, even if no one likes us. ( to my Ute friends.)
At least the Big Ten went after a big-time addition in Nebraska; the Pac-10 wanted a game so badly, it added Utah

I constantly glanced over at the Washington section during the awards. I found it gratifying that most of them stood up and clapped for much of the presentation.

They were great. They did Boo anytime the 1984 NC was mentioned though.

know who looks old? ty detmer. even being very familiar with his resume, it is still amazing to hear all the awards rattled off by an announcer. very cool. mac looked really happy to be there. is it weird that the player who definitely does not live any fact of the honor code looks like the youngest of the bunch?

I suspect all he needs to do is do it online (if possible) or complete courses at a school near where he lives that will fulfill BYU's requirements. I doubt there would be any HC or EE requirement.
                          Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

Edit: Looks like you do have to sign the honor code.

I'm sure Jimmy will sign it. He did before.
