Blue Skies Over Ames - BYU vs Iowa State 2025

Let's get a game thread going. This is going to be a very tough road game. Need to avoid a post-rivalry game letdown.

Interesting fact: BYU is 0-4 vs. Iowa State. Ouch.

I think we match up fairly well with the Cyclones. I have faith in this team. My prediction:

    BYU: 31
    Iowa State: 24

In post-game comments, both players and coaches commented on avoiding last year's post-rivalry game letdown. So I think Iowa State has the Cougars' full attention.

Iowa State is coming off a bye week in during which they could get healed up and focus on BYU. So not unreasonable to expect their best game of the season.

Iowa State's defense has been decimated by injury including both starting corners out for the season. Their rushing defense is getting worse and is allowing 5.0 yards per carry in conference games. Cincinnati ran all over them. We on the other hand have been fairly fortunate with injuries and hopefully we continue to get key injured player back. I expect us to pound the rock successfully and then have open quick hits off play action. I know it's no secret as this is our offense. But despite Iowa State being a difficult road trip and Becht being an elite qb I think they are currently particularly vulnerable to a team built like ours. Cougs by 10+.

Indiana throwing and scoring up 40+ in the 4th quarter stopping the clock constantly is upsetting me.

          Edit: time bleeding away now

Lovely. Well, the talk about "not having a letdown" was just that: talk.

What the.. left to take the trash out after kickoff, and came back 0-7 and 9 seconds off the clock.

And of course we need to burn a timeout with 12:17 left to go in the first quarter. <sigh>

Good drive for us. But I literally LOL'd at the early TO. Sigh.

Our best defense was a bad throw to a wide open dude. May have been a pick play

So are we afraid of the deep ball now and giving up 8 yard throws every down?
