It seems like the new entity here would not be tax exempt, much like the church's for-profit investments entity (Deseret Management Corporation) is not tax exempt.

I'm guessing taking away the tax-exempt status for the University as a whole is a non-starter.

As I understand the idea, the "commercial" side of sports will be assigned to the new JV entity between Otro and the university. The new entity would be a for-profit business, it makes sense that it would be taxed. But that shouldn't reach back to the university itself.

my bad, I meant to say he is a freshman representative without even a year of experience. I was making a statement that he is unlikely to be influential enough to get an already sedentary congress to do much of anything. Words are hard for us engineers.
