I think it would still be in the red. Travel expenses may be cheaper than when they were a judo. Most I could seeing them be would be big sky. Unless they get fundraising for a stadium doubt they would ever be fbs. Bsu was once a judo now there a powerhouse fbs school. Doubt Ricks would get on the same trajectory.
But tickets $10 the cheapest and $25 to $30 most expensive. Don’t know if season tickets are cheaper or not. Bring in half a million or so. If after stadium expansion and you get 10k at game and average person spends $10 at concessions if the athletic program gets half the concession revenue or profit 50j a game and another 250k.
Local tv stations and broadcast rights from ESPN and fox a couple million maybe. Donations from area businesses that put there banners courtside and the field. Maybe a few million. So they could gross maybe five or six million. Annual auctions 10k. Gettin paid by fbs school once a year could bring in a couple million. High schools renting the field for a beginning season classic maybe playoffs a few k. However who wants to watch a playoff game in November in Rexburg? I jokingly said that was were our playoff game would be held as pa announcer. Later said we won’t go to Rexburg when I wasn’t sure. Played semifinal and final in poki. Hans Olsen amd Harmon Killeberes northern neighbors made two trips in a row there. Beat a Rocky town near beehive hoops coaching greats hometown then we disposed them the next week. We gave up lead in championship in 2nd half to conference rival only team that beat us all year. Amd waited two hours for free sweaters as someone from opposing team bought seven and had to put words on them.
However scholarships, travel expenses, plane and bus fair, food and lodging, coaching salary and expenses, if the assistants are grad assistants, teachers that are assistant coaches, Ricks had a few of those from the math and English department. Pe teachers. I had some. Bom teacher woman’s bball coach.
Officials expenses, video replay and the like would probably cost much more than it would bring in. Basketball is cheaper and brings in more revenue than Olympic sports. Don’t know if it would make profit or not. Football pays other sports bills at most colleges. They have had soccer teams and a basketball team that played basically like club team. Played a few games. Probably not well known though. Home games aren’t played on campus.
The competitive inter mural program they have don’t get too many spectators. Have to pay for equipment. Maybe referees wether there local High School officials or college students. Gate receipts and concessions in camper type trailers don’t bring in more than a few hundred dollars I don’t think. Do they make profit?
I doubt BYUHawaii made profit with intercollegiate athletics, hard for Ricks too as well. Though visiting schools would bring in money to Rexburg economy. If the day comes intercollegiate athletics comes back to the institution wonder how much they would bring in.
Byu always operated at profit. Gate receipts, concessions, broadcast rights local business advertising and donations more than paid for buys athletic program. They bring in several million a year. I don’t know if there is very much booster donations anymore. As gate receipts, concessions, on site advertising of local businesses, conference revenue and money from ESPN, abc, fox more than pays for expenses, which I think would exceed $10 million or more at Byu for the football program alone.
