If it is, how is that not a recruiting violation? Tom and Manti did not have a personal relationship prior to Manti's recruitment, or so I would assume. Not by the NCAA standard, at least.

When has this happened before? I'm seriously trying to think of one time that the President of the LDS church attempted to meet with a prospective D-1 athlete and push them towards BYU. Just give me example.
