One of the sadder aspects of Utah being P5 is that it gave their fans the illusion that they might one day make the playoffs and win a championship. It's abundantly clear that their chances at doing that didn't really increase when they moved up.

Two things that crack me up about this video. 1) Watch Helf's face when they make its announced the receiver's foot was inbounds- it's a combination of joy, shock, and relief he doesn't have to put his house on the market this week. 2) It sounds like a portion of the fans cheer at the results. I doubt there were many Ducks in attendance; a portion of the stadium has no idea what the ref's announcement means at first.

Always appreciated. I had long since given up any hope of beating Utah. Really glad they found some pride and played a whole game. Makes the rest of the year even more frustrating, seeing the talent that has been wasted. Should be 7-3 or maybe 8-3 if they played like they played yesterday.

Herbert has a chance to be special, hopefully they give him a defense next year.

After reading some of this thread I am left to conclude that Utah fans agree that their program was a poor choice for the Pac 12.

I think where we disagree is my realization that Utah comes to the PAC 12 with certain structural disadvantages that are manifest in Utah's recruiting inferior to everyone in the conference but maybe two schools, and we don't recruit better than anyone. The premise of what you're saying is that Whit is dealt a similar hand in terms of talent to everyone in the conference. He's not. On the contrary. But the Utes have been very competitive. A true conservative is that way because things can get a lot worse much more easily than they can get even a little better. That's my outlook.

To me, the only valid criticism of Whit would be that he should be recruiting better. But I haven't seen a persuasive argument that he should. But that's where I have a very open mind.

Oregon, Stanford and USC take turns attending the Rose Bowl. Get used to that Ute fans, you aren't going anytime soon.
