I think you're giving him more rope than the administration will give him. 6 wins or more, and he is safe. 5 wins is a hot seat, and his job security will depend on whether there are other indicia of progress. If BYU gets 4 wins or less, I think that will be the end.Originally posted by byufan4ever View PostSo what's everyone's expectations for wins this season? Seems like 4.5 is the over/under. I think 6 wins is a successful season. 5 wins keeps Sitake safe. 4 the seat is warm. 3 it's hot. 2 he's gone (or should be). Thoughts?

This will be earth-shattering analysis, but to get the over we will need a QB to materialize. I don't dislike either of the frontrunners for the job, but don't know if either can get us to 5 wins. I would like to be surprised.

Seems like most BYU beat reporters think Kalani is axed with anything below 6 wins. Maybe if the defense performs well but the offense struggles he can get away with 5 wins and firing ARod. But I'm not particularly excited for this season and have no expectations that an entertaining product will be fielded.Originally posted by byufan4ever View PostSo what's everyone's expectations for wins this season? Not particularly confident in any wins. Hopeful.Originally posted by byufan4ever View PostSo what's everyone's expectations for wins this season? Seems like 4.5 is the over/under. I hope you're right. Jay Drew from the Deseret News is the one reporting it. https://www.deseret.com/sports/2024/...20the%20openerOriginally posted by SteelBlue View Post

Although coach Kalani Sitake said sophomore LJ Martin, expected to be RB1 in 2024, practiced on Wednesday, multiple sources have told the Deseret News that Martin is not participating in contact drills and quite likely will not be available to play in BYU’s first three or four games.
Martin is recovering from a shoulder injury suffered in spring camp. He was not made available for interviews following practice Wednesday despite having been requested, a usual sign that there’s an injury issue.

Jack Kelly is such a perfect white linebacker name I'm worried we'll lose this kid to Iowa or Nebraska.

Agree on the home jerseys for BYU-Utah but I like some of the alternative uniforms, too. My favorite is the royal with black.Originally posted by All-American View Post
Agreed. If it were up to me, we would have two combos: the traditional home (white helmet, royal jersey, white pants) and the traditional away (white helmet, white jersey, royal pants). Alas.
I do like BYU and Utah wearing home jerseys though.

Bro we're such grumpy old men about these things! I love it!Originally posted by Omaha 680 View Post
I could not agree more. But this is a step in the right direction. I counted two whole games with the traditional royal blue/white uniform with white helmet combo (both home blue jerseys), and four whole games with a white helmet!
The royal blue helmet isn't the best and the full royal for the Utah game is dumb. It looks almost purple in person. Side note: the holy war stealing the UCLA/USC tradition of both teams wearing home jerseys is also dumb. It makes sense for the UCLA/USC game because it has its origins when they both played their home games at the coliseum. But the holy war has no tradition for it other than copying something else.
