  • Sounds like this gives BYU the "flexibility" to travel to RES in 2011.
"They're good. They've always been good" - David Shaw.

Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

Most likely true. in fact, the rvialry with Utah will most likely be maintained if BYU goes independent, it seems ot me.
      PLesa excuse the tpyos.

Playing the MWC, BYU usually faced a ranked TCU or Utah team in late October/early November. This provided an opportunity to make up for an early loss and move back up the polls.

Last year for example. A tough loss to FSU dropped them 12 spots in the polls. A win against TCU would have put them right back in the top 10.

How is this going to happen when they're playing service academies and WAC teams in October/November?
They will still get Utah in November. And as a perenial favorite for the PAC-12Utah should be a big boost.

I've asked this question a bunch and the answer appears to be, ESPN.

Utah has already said it wants the game moved to September.

I think this is one of the drawbacks. It will put more of an emphasis on the eraly season, si my guess. OTOH, that could work to BYU's adv., in some eyars, and no option is perfect at this point.
              PLesa excuse the tpyos.

So Boise is taking BYU's schedule and BYU is taking Boise's? How has that worked out for the Broncos to be included in the BCS?

Has that happened? we'll see. Moreover, kidding aside, as I said above, late season scheduleing could be more helpful or more harmful from year to year.

League play across the NCAA is generally completed in either the second or thir saturday in November. Depending on that year's calendar (when the first week of games is in August) "Rivalry Week" is either the Saturday before or after Thanksgiving. Utah will be free to play the game then. They're blowing smoke to rile up the Cougar fans...

And if scheduling proves to be more difficult than BYU projects, it may give them the "flexibility" to travel to RES again in 2013, 2014, 2016, 2017, 2019, 2020....

umm - they've been in twice, have they not?

How many undefeated seasons has it taken? If it's working so well, why the jump to the MWC?

Because, unlike BYU, they apparently realize the WAC sucks more than the MWC.

Not only sucks, but lacks any credibility in anything. Wasn't that why BYU left the WAC in the first place?

If this happens it will be interesting ot see what happense to the rest of the MWC. Maybe the WAC 16 returns, or their is some other realignemnt of those schools in some combination.
