I was really hoping to finish off the last scheduled game with Boise State with a win. Depressing.

I forgot how bad it was in 2017. I wonder if I'm going to end up repressing my memory of 2022 as well.
One difference between this year and 2017. So far we have not lost to any team that is truly wretchedly bad (like UMass and that year's version of ECU). In fact, every one of our losses this year was to a team that got votes in last week's AP poll.
On the flip side, the only team worth a darn that we've managed to beat is Baylor. Not that is is disgraceful to have lost any one of those six games, but if you are on par with those six teams, you expect to win at least as much as you lose. To go 1-5 just goes to show that we aren't very good.

The 2017 season was a different level of terrible. The offense couldn't score even against the worst defenses in the country (like ECU). This season, the defense looked OK to good to start the season and the offense (especially the passing game) looked pretty good.
While the defense - and to some extent, the offense - showed poorly in games against Wyoming and Utah State, by the second half of each game, they seemed to figure things out and pull out convincing wins. They followed a similar script against Notre Dane - especially on offense, but couldn't overcome their 1st half deficit.
Since then, the defense has become atrocious and the offense has lost its firepower. In some ways it's worse than 2017 because they teased us with such promise only to turn and possibly - now likely - not even reach bowl eligibility.

I feel like this team is playing far below their potential. Serious regression. BSU is going to kill us.

Boise is only an 8 point favorite. IF I was the type of fan to see monetary or emotional value in betting against BYU, this would be of great value. Hypothetically speaking IF i was 5-0 betting against the spread with BYU, this MIGHT my biggest wager of the year.

BYU is an 8-pt favorite? Really?
Give me a link to your betting site. That is easy money.

My bad Boise is favored. I started post, got interrupted by patient then resumed typing without looking. Originally was going stay BYU was 8 point underdog.

OK, that makes way more sense.

Both my wife and my daughter are planning to attend the game. I don't know who they'll decide to cheer for, because both have degrees from BYU and one also has a degree from Boise State while the other is a current student there. They'll be in the student section, so they will probably be required to cheer for Boise State.

Sad stories like thing break my heart and make me feel for my CS brethren.

I have it on good authority that sitting in the Boise State student section for a BYU football game does not require cheering for Boise State.
