  • Battle of Bull's Run: BYU @ USF Game Thread

We're 11 days out from this titanic clash, and nobody had created a thread, so here we go. The USF Bulls, with their genitalia-shaped logo, have gone 3-18 over the last 2 seasons under Jeff Scott. That included a loss to us in 2021 in a game plagued by injuries. They've got a new QB fresh out of the transfer portal, but we saw him last year when he passed for 238 yards in the Baylor loss. Can't wait to see Jaren Hall firing bullets all over the field, picking them apart.

Kickoff is at 2 p.m., Mountain time. Broadcast on ESPNU. Announcers will be Ted Emrich and Barrett Brooks. RGIII, thankfully, will be otherwise engaged.

    RISE AND SHOUT!

I was thinking of a Death in the Afternoon: Cougars vs. Bulls game thread to push out on the Monday of game week, so you saved me some work.

I hope BYU trounces USF in an injury-free beatdown that sets a good tone for the start of the season. Any guesses on how the defense will look?

I’m excited to see whether Brooks is the real deal. He looks like a beast.

Not sure why, but I'm not nearly as hyped for this season as I have been for prior years. Maybe I'm just getting old.

For me it's a combo of our murderer's row of a schedule and not knowing really a thing about the team outside of our QB and a few WRs. I live to be pleasantly surprised, though.

I checked for tickets they seem to be cheap but food and lodging and airfare different story. I haven’t been to the Sunshine state since my mission. Would like too. For food members owned third base in Palm Harbor and fed missionaries for free.don’t know if that place still exists. Tarpon Springs had several outdoor restaurants with people of foreign countries, Greek and a few others grilled food on the spot. Even had nature shows there. Don’t know if there still there.

Outback big there. Legend of missionaries parking in hooters and getting caught by ap,s. Headquarters there. Plenty of places to eat over there.

I wouldn’t mind going back just to do things I couldn’t do as missionary, para sailing said if I didn’t have acrophobia. Seeing people do that from 5th story of apartment. Going to beach. And going to game. I don’t know if missionaries will be allowed to go to ga,e or not. We were not allowed too.

in jest I wanted to go to High School game in Sarasota and zl who became ap showed me handbook we’re it said I was sponsoring a team by going to High School game. Missionaries have gone to games in other places. Doug’s playing in stomping grounds.

What were the APs doing there?

So NASA is planning to launch their big *ss, $4b moon rocket around the time of the game...

If the damn thing blows up it might add some cool fireworks for the game.

I don’t think you will hear the rocket launch in Tampa. I was never close to Cap Caneveral. Did hear the boom when a space shuttle came back in Apopka. Close enough there.
