It remains to be seen how B12 money will impact salaries, but I'd hope we'd pay a coordinator 2x-3x of his current salary.

Plus, if he has ambitions to be an FBS head coach (or even a P5 head coach), DC at a P5 is as good a launching pad as any. I suppose you could also do that from an FCS head coach position, but if you can manage to claim both on your resume (all the while being paid multiples of your current salary), then there is at least a little sense to it.

exactly. scalley makes $1.4MM at utah. if byu paid half that, it would still nearly triple his salary.

I am beginning to believe Jaren Hall will return. I guess he has some decent NIL gigs and that the associated revenue is enough to give him pause as to what might be a more lucrative year for him. Given his injury issues I doubt he gets drafted very high-if at all.

If BYU can put together a consistent NLI regime where it gives potential late round draft picks reason to view BYU as a better financial opportunity that also bodes well for BYU's future and capacity to compete in the new Big 12.

This year was clearly disappointing, but these other developments could be the groundwork base necessary to compete at the Big 12 level.

I've heard that he'll make more in NIL money next year than my salary, bonus, equity, and retirement contributions and 401k matching combined (and I made decent-ish money) if he comes back next year.

I tend to agree but folks seem pretty convinced he is coming to BYU. The only reason I can imagine he would do it is for the money. If that is the reason, that is a pretty good development for BYU.

I like K-pop. He’s on the short list of future coordinator/HC @byu. Not sure he’s ready for DC, but I think he’ll be an upgrade over Clune if this is a positional role.
