    It's a damn shame

It's a damn shame that Utah is leaving the MWC. None of this crap would be happening if it weren't for the BCS. If they had a playoff, the conference would be sticking together.

I keep thinking about how happy I'd be if BYU were invited to the BIG 12. But when I imagine it, I start to get kind of sad. I'm sad to think of divorcing ourselves from schools like Wyoming. Some of my most terrifying childhood memories were of seeing Wyoming fans shout and curse and smoke outside the Marriott Center during the WAC basketball tournament. That memory is revived within me every single year when I watch BYU play the Pokes. It makes the game interesting even if BYU is killing them.

The history means something, but the Utes were willing to throw it all away for a few pieces of silver.

The BCS didn't create the inequity in TV contract money that exists between the MWC and Pac-10. Utah (or any other MWC school) would have to be a stone-cold fool not to make a jump to what is a far more prestigious conference; the most favorable postseason options/formats be damned.

BYU was more than willing, they probably wouldn't have even needed the silver.

How do you know that BYU wasn't offered and then declined because of their superior integrity?

You mean our enormous mountain of silver?

Shoot. We'll just have to drown our regrets in our olympic-size swimming pool of champaigne, tearfully curl up on our bed of roses, and blow our noses into a hundred-dollar bill.

There is some sadness in the departure. I remember going to games against wyoming at rice stadium as a kittle kid where they ran a horse (or maybe a donkey) around the track after each time they scored. I am happy the Utes are going to the PAC but also sad to see some of those memorable (for and to me) opponents be no more.

I drove through Wyoming last week.

Had an unfortunate encounter with a Sheriff's Deputy and was rudely requested to make a hefty contribution to Natrona County based on some trumped up speeding charges. Pretty sure it was my Utah plates and BYU helmet decal that did it.

Landpoke is awesome, but I'm not feeling too fond of Wyoming generally these days.

The Cougars won't lack for hicks....

and inbreds in the Big 12. They will just replace the Pokes w/ the Slavers:

Stress free and easy shopping experience. Simple and speedy service.

As the old saying about Missoura goes: Missoura: 5 million people, 5 last names. And don't worry about speeding in central Missoura. Boone County's Finest is way to busy tending to the fireworks stands and the strip joints along I-70 to worry much about speeding. And as crappy as they maintain their interstate, you'll be lucky to get above 55mph.

We also have Pokes down in Stoolwater. I've been to a game in both Laramie and Stoolwater. You'll like Stoolwater alot more. They're kinda cool w/ that Red Dirt Radio/Eskimo Joes and very nice to anyone that ain't one of them Sooner types. And they have a really, really nice football stadium courtesy of T Boone Pickens.
