The MWC is definitely "unwilling" if that's the word you want to use. Thompson has said on record that Boise State will replace Utah across the board on the schedule of MWC teams.

USU was off the schedule already for 2010-11. Getting Notre Dame, with USU having a new HC made it an easy decision to put off the series for two years.Originally posted by shoganai View PostSo that confirms the end of Utah State, I suppose. Perhaps for both schools...

The PAC-10 has a tendency of scheduling conference games late in the season. Especially when you add in a title game, It would be highly detrimental for Utah to play that game late in the year, assuming they even had the option.Originally posted by Maximus View PostUtah is unwilling to play BYU last? We will play BYU in our fourth game of the year, at LES, almost certainly over General Conference weekend.
Based on that and a few other items I'm holding close to the vest, at least one of two things (and almost certainly both) will happen to Utah's Pac-10 schedule in 2011 to maximize our gains from zero TV money that year: We will be on the right end of a 5/4 split in Pac-10 games that year, and if we go zipper, we will get both SoCal schools on the schedule in our first two years of play.
Still unsolved is the matter of Pittsburgh and Boise State. One of those games has to be moved off the schedule if we're to fit in BYU.

I'd really like to see things continue with USU. I think it's a nice in-state game that holds some interest, the opponent is a good test but not daunting and would be a good warm-up for PAC12 play.
Oh well.
I guess a lot of people get bent if utah and byu don't play.

It sounds like Hill is serious about playing BYU. And even though it would be a nasty, nasty OOC schedule, it's an equal number of home and road games.Originally posted by Top Ute View PostStill unsolved is the matter of Pittsburgh and Boise State. What are the chances those games remain on the schedule?

He's hoping Utah gets 5 home conference games in 2011 to allow for scheduling BYU in Provo. He also said they'll replace the Iowa St home game with an FCS opponent.

USC-Notre Dame is played late when the game is in LA. When it's at South Bend, it almost always falls in mid-October, usually on the third Saturday of the month. The last time USC-Notre Dame in South Bend was played outside the month of October was 1958.Originally posted by Hot Lunch View PostYes it is typically played late in the season.
I don't think it matters when the BYU/Utah game will be played. Their will be a ton of excitement for the game.
