    • Okay... Now we are back where we started. Who is BYU going to want to bring in?

I'll bite... Air Force. Would love to see the Big 12 deal with the option on a weekly basis.

When all is said and done, it isn't unreasonable to say that everyone owes Baylor a free round of drinks. They stood toe to toe with the Giant and played a huge role in saving the conference.
I was thinking the rest of the schools might decide to kick Baylor out if they can. What did Baylor do? They threatened a and m and the sec, but a and m is still going to the sec.

          • Boren issues statement...

“We were not surprised by the Pac 12′s decision to not expand at this time. Even though we had decided not to apply for membership this year, we have developed a positive relationship with the leadership of the conference and we have kept them informed of the progress we’ve been making to gain agreement from the Big 12 for changes which will make the conference more stable in the future. Conference stability has been our first goal and we look forward to achieving that goal through continued membership in the Big 12 Conference.”
I wonder if Boren has thought about becoming a politician. He seems to be full of it.

Texas and OU may have been annoyed, but the North schools certainly should be grateful. It seems the Big 12 could have crumbled pretty quickly if A&M had been allowed to leave right away. Baylor's threats held things together long enough for everything to play out and come full circle.

                  • Ha! There is already a SportsNation poll on espn.com about the PAC-12 decision to stand pat.

Utah is the state that most agrees with the PAC-12 decision. Imagine that.

Talk about taking a steaming pile and trying to make it seem like a cherry pie.
                        Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

Uncle Ted=My favorite link machine (except for that strange red stain on your picture right now).

(P.S.-Utes, I've got enough family on your team to call a game a reunion. And I say the same thing to them when they're sporting their "U" junk).

                          • I would just like to point out that there were some among us who, when the news about Pitt broke, suggested everyone calm down and wait and see how it all played out. Of course, we still need to wait and see how it plays out.
                            PLesa excuse the tpyos.

                            • Chip Brown adds nothing new except for this little nugget...

MIDNIGHT - I've been told Texas and Oklahoma officials will get together in the next week to iron out differences and pledge to at least a five-year commitment in the Big 12.

There will be a sense of urgency to add one school and possibly more to the Big 12, sources said.

Here is Oklahoma president David Boren's statement on the night's events, including the Pac-12's announcement not to expand:

“We were not surprised by the Pac 12′s decision to not expand at this time. Even though we had decided not to apply for membership this year, we have developed a positive relationship with the leadership of the conference and we have kept them informed of the progress we’ve been making to gain agreement from the Big 12 for changes which will make the conference more stable in the future. Conference stability has been our first goal and we look forward to achieving that goal through continued membership in the Big 12 Conference.”
