That is the only guy over there that has been consistently right about anything with this stuff. We'll see how it pans out.
Will donate kidney for B12 membership.

        Good ol' T-bunder Dan.
Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

Just for the record, I never doubted. I'm glad this is finally settled.

This was a funny description of the WCC:
The WCC would be a great destination for the Dan Majerle-led Antelopes. It's a highly regarded conference with some top basketball programs, including St. Mary's, Gonzaga and Santa Clara.

Regardless of why, I do honestly believe that it is really only a matter of time until Brigham Young ends up in some power conference. And I cannot wait.

I try hard to think the last time when either football or basketball was just plain bad at BYU, but I honestly couldn’t.
Selective memory: The Crowton years and the whole fiasco after Roger Reid got the boot. I seem to remember 1 - 20 season and open tryouts for the basketball team.

                        • West Virginia Illustrated asks, "Big 12 Conference Expansion???" and uses three question marks likely to illustrate the confusion surrounding this topic.

                          http://www.wvillustrated.com/story/29565815/big-12-conference-expansion

Consider this point: If the Big 12 is looking at adding schools to the conference, Boren’s comments and this math-made-easy are as follows: The Big 12 is about to enter the fourth year of its 13-year ESPN/Fox deal that averages about $20 million annually to every conference member. That “clause” mentioned above (proportionally increase revenue if the league expanded) would in other words, even by adding schools to the conference, the Big 12 guarantees every member that sum ($20 million) instead of a slightly cut down version of the deal, and that's kind of a big deal. The other payouts from the NCAA basketball tournament, non-playoff bowls and the College Football Playoff would be potentially smaller with more members but it would eventually add to the greater pot of money per school. Let’s do some quick math: It’s public knowledge the Big 12 conference just paid out an average of $25.2 million per school. It’s also public knowledge the conferences bowl affiliation payout to the Big 12 from non-playoff bowl appearances amounted to approximately $6.4 million per school. The NCAA basketball tournament money is harder to calculate as the Big 12 comes together with its current roster of schools, but it's in the neighborhood of $2 million per school. Even with this tricky math, the conference would anticipate additional revenue by adding members to the mix, which would add to more non-playoff bowl appearances and would add more NCAA basketball appearances and you guess it - more money per school.
Any down side of added schools and eventually dividing the conference money evenly among (12) or (14) schools, would be quickly recovered, when the league added a conference championship game, which it would with (12) or more schools.
So the take way from all of this… by adding the right teams that can make the BCS playoff or any non-playoff bowl or advance consistently and appear in the NCAA basketball tournament, would boost the bottom line for all Big 12 members.
In other words, no matter the perceived football power (insert school here) or TV markets (insert city here) or even the fan base or NCAA basketball appearances (like Memphis) that could come into play IF the conference were to expand (it appears on the surface) the candidates out there currently don’t bring enough value to the Big 12 conference; at least not yet…

                          • BYU needs to win games to justify independence and get a b12 invite

                            http://www.thespectrum.com/story/spo...ence/30277717/

With the landscape of college athletics constantly changing, recent talk about Big 12 conference expansion has the attention of Cougar fans. While several dynamics are taken into consideration during conference realignment – geography, academics, brand, television ratings, etc., – winning has also been a top priority.
While BYU certainly has a rich history with the likes of Steve Young, Ty Detmer andChad Lewis, it shouldn't rely on its past if it wants to carry itself into the future.
I considered putting this in the Ouch! thread

                            • New B12 expansion target: University of South Alabama?

                              http://espn.go.com/blog/big12/post/_...e-expectations

Because we love it, here's another expansion question/proposal. I feel it's a bit of a long shot, but why not consider the U of South Alabama? I pose this for a couple reasons. That neck of the woods is quite fertile and has been for a while, (Emmitt Smith, Trent Richardson). This would put the Big XII in the middle of SEC turf as well. Mobile is a growing area with good media coverage and Ladd-Peebles Stadium is big enough to support it, though aging. There are a lot of Big XII fans in the area too, either retired or military. If Bowlsby showed interest in USA, they might renovate or upgrade. There are several reasons not to take them, but from the available schools, how bad of an idea could adding the Jaguars be?

Even in 2004 the football team wasn't outright bad- they were talented but just completely in turmoil. We were a field goal away from beating Boise @ Boise and suffered lots of mental errors that directly led to losses. (fumble near the goal line vs UNLV, etc).
