Yes, let's announce an hour after the BYU vs USU Game starts.

Oh, wait, instead, let's announce right between Conference sessions. We'll just slip it into the "Worldwide Church News" report.

Why even throw out those Friday and Saturday times Tdawg?

        • Chip Brown, BYU is most likely in if Mizzou stays or goes...

Talked to several sources Thursday about realignment and what the Big 12 would do with or without Missouri, and some of it will have to do with if TCU is or isn't going to be obligated to the 27-month commitment to the Big East. Many in the Big 12 think TCU can get out of it since it hasn't even contractually left the Mountain West yet.

Anyway, if Missouri bolts the Big 12 and leaves the conference with eight teams, the Big 12 would still be viable in the eyes of the TV partners. And the two most likely additions would be BYU and TCU. If TCU is not obligated to the Big East for the 27-month commitment, then TCU would probably be the first team accepted into the Big 12. If TCU is obligated to the Big East for the two years, then BYU would probably be the first team added.

But BYU's comfort level with the Big 12 would only come if the remaining members of the Big 12 agreed to grant their Tier 1 and Tier 2 TV rights to the conference for six years and make a REAL commitment to each other. When Oklahoma made its grandstand on Sept. 2 with David Boren talking about the Sooners' conference options before landing back in the Big 12 with no stand-alone Pac-12 invite, BYU was totally turned off by the Big 12's instability.

A source close to the situation at the time said BYU was just fine with its new-found independence and was "80-20 against" joining the Big 12. But after the Big 12 started talking about granting their rights, BYU became more open to the idea of possibly joining the Big 12.

Texas would like to grow the conference to 10 schools and pause. If you take TCU out of the Big East on top of Syracuse and Pitt already committing to the ACC, then there's a chance Notre Dame would start to feel like it needs to find a new conference home for its sports other than football (which all currently play in the Big East). Texas has stunned other schools in the Big 12 with the confidence in which UT talks about its relationship with Notre Dame and the possibility that ND could end up in the Big 12. (DeLoss Dodds and Irish athletic director Jack Swarbrick are good friends. Dodds supported Swarbrick for Big 12 commissioner when Swarbrick was a finalist against Dan Beebe).

There has also been this notion belonging to Texas that if Notre Dame were to somehow end up in the Big 12, Arkansas might want to jump into the Big 12. Now I talked to a source who will be intimately involved with all of this who thinks Texas is nuts for thinking Notre Dame would ever end up in the Big 12 and used the word "never" when talking about Arkansas jumping from the SEC to the Big 12.

There are those in the Big 12 who think Texas is full of itself for even thinking ND and Ark would consider coming to the Big 12. But Texas continues to present these ideas to the rest of the league. Some are growing impatient with those thoughts and don't want to wait around.

Whether Missouri leaves or stays, there are those who would like to go to 12 immediately in the Big 12.

If Missouri leaves, the additions would likely be TCU, BYU, Louisville and either West Virginia, Cincinnati or Boise State.

If Missouri stays, the additions would likely be TCU, BYU and Louisville.

And those additions would be acceptable to the TV partners (ABC/ESPN and Fox), which is a huge consideration in all of this.

The Big 12 presidents will meet either Sunday afternoon or Monday morning to take all this up. The Missouri board of curators is expected to meet on Tuesday.

          Stay tuned. (BROWN)

          • This is interesting bc when things were going south last week, one of the things that didn't make sense to me was being told that if BYU ever wanted to be in the same league as ND, it had better join the b12.

            Maybe that link is powerful?

Consider the recent (within the last year) scheduling between BYU, Texas and ND. It seems something is going on.

ND will most likely hold out to be the 16th team and will want their 3rd tier rights. The Big Ten won't give them that.

I think there's a lot more to this ND thing that should grab BYU's attention.

I think BYU's smart enough to get in while the getting's good.

Unfortunately, not one of them told me any inside info that they didn't hear on twitter or some blog. These are my sources.

                          • I have to admit. At this point even if we get an invite, I've soured some on the thought of playing in the most dysfunctional conference ever. I hope the teams stick together, but I really have serious doubts OU and Texas will be in the Big 12 3-4 years from now. The good part is that if they can add the rest of the Big East football schools (and keep Kansas for basketball), it will still be a mildly respectable (low end BCS) conference.

So, worst case scenario is that the conference implodes after a few years and we are, at worse, right back where we started? I'm in!

It was posted late last night on OBs. Chip Brown said the same thing on his radio show this morning.
