I remember it was at least 95 degrees, that game was hot. Also that game produced one of admittedly my stranger superstitions for a season that I've ever had.

I bought a new BYU shirt at halftime of the game and following the win I would take that shirt with me and put it on at halftime of every game. I think even though I was young I knew it was a little silly, but I wasn't going to mess with results.

Why this isn't on byutv.org is a mystery to me.

Perhaps they don't own the right to rebroadcast the Pigskin Classic. Just a guess, though.

I would assume with the game's appearance in 1996 on ABC and BYU's current arrangement with ABC/ESPN that wouldn't be an obstacle anymore.

The state legislature has said that A&M can't make anything official until the higher education committee meets on Tuesday.

Which makes me wonder what they intend to announce to the world. Why would you say you're going to do something that you may not be able to do legally? Seems kind of pointless.

Knock it off. This board has enough problems without a dose of middle-age lechery.

Yes. "Big 12 aspiration" is perhaps more apropos in both senses of the word.

                        • Does the Texas legislature have a legal say in whether aTm moves to a different conference? Seems like that sort of jurisdiction would be entrusted to the university president/chancellor.

There has been a lot of chest puffing on the part of the legislature, I understand. But I question whether they can veto this decision.

The state is going to be hard pressed to argue that aTm moving to the SEC would hurt the other Texas public universities after it stood by and did nothing to prevent TLN from becoming a tool of financial destruction against aTm and everyone else.

                          • Fox sports analyzes what impact aTm to the SEC would have on everyone. Interesting point...if the SEC does go to 14 teams, forget about any of them ever playing an away game against a quality OOC opponent. That was already a rarity. It will now be obsolete.

Btw, BYU isn't even mentioned as a possible expansion team. Gut check time folks!

Beebe has learned his lesson, and he and the Big 12 will be more proactive in case more teams start to defect. The Big 12 would take a look at Houston or maybe even Southern Methodist just to keep more of a Texas presence and to appease some state politicians, but it would have to be proactive.

Colorado State would be a decent fit with the Denver TV market a positive, Boise State would bring a little pop and Southern Miss would make sense to expand east, but the options are limited. The league isn’t in a position to take teams away from other BCS conferences, and going after Conference USA and Mountain West teams will look desperate, which is precisely what the Big 12 will be without Texas A&M.

don't you remember what happened last year and when the B12 was first created? Of course the legislature has a legal say in it. If they didn't then nobody would take their threats seriously.

No, I don't. What happened last year? Did the legislature invoke an existing law preventing contraction? Please expound.

The SEC has already extended the invite. aTm already accepted. It doesn't sound like anyone is taking their threats seriously.
