The Big 12 expansion groundswell

With lengthy list of issues I have had with Packer over the years add keeping BYU out of the Big12 and potentially killing the football program. I don't know if this has any truth to it or not, but I do suspect TH and CS had got a deal done and it was killed by the higher ups (BOT). Maybe Packer thought the Big12 is gay? Tolerance is a trap my friends!

Alternately, BYU could start their own power conference and call it "The Anointed 12" and start peeling off some heavy-hitters from the Big East and ACC.

BYU needs to keep the pressure on by continuing to talk about it, both formally and informally. The Cougars need their fans and alumni, particularly famous influential alumni, to talk about it on social media, television, in letters to those in power, etc.

Maybe BYU could use a slogan like: “Hey Texas, we have a Big 12 too — they’re called Apostles. We’re a match made in heaven.”

Barry Trammel publishes some stuff emailed to him by a BYU fan named David Moore. I wish there would be a really good history of what happened back when the Big 12 was expanding. Texas and Oklahoma were rattling sabers and talking about leaving at the time and there was no grant of rights. I think the back story of what was happening would be very interesting.

Message boards--including ShaggyBevo-- seem to believe BYU had an invite and blew it. Is there any snippet or quote anywhere that makes that sound plausible?

For what it's worth, the allegation isn't that BKP spiked it, it was that word somehow got back to an already-skittish Texas and Okie that the entire BoT wasn't unanimously excited about it, because BKP wasn't excited about it, and they got spooked.
