Still no settlement between WVU and the Big E...
The rumor is that it may cost WV $20M to leave the Big East to start the 2012 season in the B12.So much for that quick resolution between the Big East and West Virginia.
Amid multiple reports of a possible settlement, the sides met Thursday in a Rhode Island court to discuss the status of their mediation negotiations aimed at resolving were the Mountaineers will play this season.
[...]
The lack of agreement Thursday leaves both the Big East and Big 12 in limbo. Neither conference has not released football schedules for the coming season.
The Big 12 sent its proposed schedule to ESPN by the Feb. 1 deadline, but no details have been made public.
CB said this the other day about the WVU-Big East case...
He did go on to say they expected a settlement today and the B12 to announce their 2012 football schedule tomorrow. It doesn't look like either is going to happen in the near future. There might be a new development in the Big East-West Virginia case that could cause some real friction.
I was told in the last 24 hours by a source close to the Big East that the Big East wants Boise State to accelerate its entry into the Big East for the 2012-13 (to replace WVU) instead of waiting for the 2013-14 school year.
If another school doesn't come into the Big East for 2012-13 to replace WVU - preferably Boise - the Big East could/would be prepared to sue the Big 12 for damages, the source said."If there is one thing I am, it's always right." -Ted Nugent.

If I were in a position to advise a trustee of a B12 university, I'd highlight that they should consider a scenario wherein the B12 invites BYU and UL and signals that WVU is in a limbo of sorts. Then, WVU could allege that the BEast was REALLY impairing its long-term opportunity with all of the brinksmanship and they better get ready for a big damages claim if the B12 train left the station without them.

Remember when Viking was so confident of a BYU invite to the B12 that he promised a one-year vacation from the board if it didn't happen by a certain date? Good times."There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? Those folks are just intolerable."
