I hope we don't have to wait two more years after SU's declaration of victory to get into the Big 12.

20 years later Levi's and McDonalds did what losing 59,000+ American lives could not. Victory was eventually attained, it just took a bit longer and to give "it" sweet time.

            • NY Post says BYU first in line

According to a published report, Missouri, a member of the Big 12, will leave to join the SEC. That will leave the Big 12 with nine teams. The league is debating whether to go with a 10- or 12-team membership.

BYU, Louisville and West Virginia, in that order, are on the Big 12's radar. BYU has had conversations with the Big 12.

If the league goes to 12, BYU Louisville and West Virginia would all get invites. The Big East would then turn to Temple and hope Army can be convinced to join its football brethren. Most likely the Big East football conference will break and the league will go back to its basketball roots.

Yeah, gotta apologize for that... sometimes when a bad mood, dark humor, and my fascination with church history combine... bad happens. So yeah, didn't need to go there. Besides... going all Porter Rockwell on Chip if I get another "stay tuned" in reference to BYU and the BIG 12, would just be way more cool. Porter is one of my favorite all time Mormon Bad-asses... right up there with Teancum.

The Big East already kicked Temple out of the conference once upon a time.

I keep thinking that the Big East crumbling would force Notre Dame to join a conference for football or possibly all sports. But if the Big East stays around as a non-football conference, the Irish could continue to stay independent.

It's possible the #Big12 will announce teams 11-12 at roughly the same time they announce 10, but only 10 plays in 2012, I'm told.

Hope BYU is the team for '12!

                    • Not sure if it was posted... but looks like Gonzaga already hates us in the WCC. That didn't take long at all. Just funny considering all the "WCC is perfect for BYU" people I hear about.

                      Boo You BYU

The West Coast Conference is comprised of nine schools. Eight schools have a student population ranging between 3,000 to 8,000 students. The ninth school, BYU, has approximately 34,000 students. That just doesn’t make sense.

                      ...

I know I’d be happy if this was the only year they were in the WCC. I’d be perfectly fine to send the Cougars to the Big 12, where some of the rumors are speculating they might head next. Brigham Young University is a very reputable school, but they do not belong in the West Coast Conference.
I like the WCC's people but agree with this dude. It seems like they'd be happier getting BYU-Hawaii... in fact maybe we can offer that as a "we still like being friends" gesture.

Westminister is a better fit for the WCC than BYU...

Interesting idea, but does BYU-H field enough athletic teams?

We could like invite the entire student body of all the schools in the WCC and put them in LES. Or maybe just invite 4-5 schools and put them in the Marriot. lol

Good question... with the money the PCC brings in every year for that school, along with all the Poly's that will play just about anything... I'm sure we could make it all work.

Edit: Ok... baseball... most Poly's are not too great at baseball. We played with our Tongan Ward and they kept chucking the mitts and catching the ball with their bare hands... followed by dropping on their backs in pain. And since cricket is the third largest sport in Tonga, they all had a jacked up stance... but I'm sure it'd be entertaining for the WCC in general.

Is BYU allowed to have 4 times as many players on the basketball team? Do they get to offer more hoop scholarships than the rest of the WCC?

Using that logic, my kids' Texas high school should be competing in the WCC as they fall within the 3,000 to 8,000 student range.
