    • SU made a funny.
      Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

You heard it from me first: The Big 12 is giving BYU only courtesy consideration. Cultural issues are dispositive.
The reasons I want BYU into the Big 12:
        1) We belong in a P5 conference
        2) See SU eat crow
Don't worry about people stealing your ideas. If your ideas are any good, you'll have to ram them down people's throats.

          SU is like Jesus.
He tells us things about ourselves that we don't want to hear, but that we really do need to hear.
Eventually, you're going to run him out of town.
Then, you'll spend the next 2,000 years wishing he would come back.

We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. Apparently the sports writers are not listening...

Sad day for Sandra Bullock as East Carolina drops out of Big 12 expansion derby

Shortly after the conference declared commissioner Bob Bowlsby would start the exploration process, I suggested the only three schools from that list even worth serious consideration are BYU, Cincy and Houston. That hasn’t changed.

BYU could actually raise your football profile, which is ultimately what expansion comes down to. I don’t know if Cincy or Houston truly do that, but neither really damages your brand any.

You should give them a call and let the sports writers know that the Big 12 is only giving BYU a courtesy consideration. Oh, of course, they are most likely BYU grads or LDS or something like that and, therefore, biased toward BYU. Also, they must hate gays given there is no mention of that issue. I guess you would have to read the highly regarded sport journal Rolling Stone to find any mention of that.

Oh, yeah, I like this part...

              BYU

              Athletic strength

Football Cougar win totals since 2011: 10, 8, 8, 8 and 9. Bonuses: a 2-0 record against Texas, plus wins over Ole Miss and Nebraska. The basketball team has averaged 25 wins over the past five years.

              Fan base

BYU’s average attendance at LaVell Edwards Stadium (58,532) would rank third in the Big 12 behind Oklahoma and Texas. That should be prominent on the Cougars’ application. So should this: BYU averaged 14,699 per home basketball game last year, ranking 14th nationally.

              Media market

              Salt Lake City is 34th.

              Academic standards

BYU is tied for 66th among national universities.

Vote: Yes, but only if the Big 12 can’t poach a Pac-12 member first.
              http://www.tulsaworld.com/sportsextr...b04ffa4ed.html

Maybe Utah would consider jumping out of the Pac-12 as a feeble attempt to block BYU from going to a P5 and sucking its recruiting dry? LOL.

              The other two options...
              CINCINNATI

              Athletic strength

Bearcat football is trending downward slightly, from 10-win seasons in 2011 and ’12 to a 7-6 showing last fall. Basketball exceeds 20 victories and reaches the NCAA every year.

              Fan base

The Bearcats average more than 37,000 fans in 40,000-seat Nippert Stadium, and fill about three-quarters of 13,176-seat Fifth Third Arena.

              Media market

36th. Just keep in mind when it comes to football, it’s a Bengals city first and Buckeyes second.

              Academic standards

              Cincinnati is tied for 140th.

Vote: Yes, but only if better (Power 5) options fell through.

              HOUSTON

              Athletic strength

Tom Herman just went 13-1 and beat Florida State in the Peach Bowl. But won’t he be coaching at Texas or Texas A&M next year? Kelvin Sampson just won 22 games as basketball coach. It would be a scream to have him back in the Big 12.

              Fan base

The Cougs put nearly 34,000 fans in 40,000-seat TDECU Stadium. Hofheinz Pavilion hasn’t seen crowds since Phi Slamma Jamma ruled (latest average: 3,705).

              Media market

Houston is 10th. Houston, of course, is full of Texas Exes. There’s a strong OU base down there. Baylor is represented. So, adding the Cougs does what in terms of TV viewers?

              Academic standards

              Houston is tied for 187th.

Vote: Yes, but only if Nebraska doesn’t come running back where it belongs first.

Like I would know that - I am not worthy to even unloose his shoe latchet.

EDIT: unloosen is one of my favorite KJV verbs. It really should mean to tighten, but I guess it doesn't.

I was actually going to point out the unloosen thing today, our minds are so similar in depth and understanding it is almost scary.
