The Big Ten is just waiting for a shoe to drop in the race for conference expansion against the other power 4 conferences and doesn't have to move an inch. Other schools will end up doing the dirty work for them.

I wonder if Bowlsby factored in the amount of money the Big 12 would get having a team go to the playoff/championship bowl games. Maybe Pinkel was just stating what everyone else (outside of the Big 12 and ND) is thinking.

That was the general message from College Football Playoff executive director Bill Hancock during Day 2 of Big 12 media days Tuesday....

"...One year doesn't make a trend," Hancock said. "I think the Big 12 is smart to sit back and wait. I think they're smart to be deliberate and thoughtful about this."

As presently constituted, the Big 12 I think is essentially dead as soon as Texas, OU, and whoever else possibly manages to ride on their coattails out of the league. If OU wants more teams, it's stupid not to listen just because you want to be deliberate and are afraid of the short term poissiblity of having a smaller slice of pie.

What's funny is that if they had 12 they'd actually have to travel to one less game in conference and could have an extra home game.
